May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

OES I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I have heard people say putting a warm towel with the one chick and I just read that adding a mirror sometimes helps settling them down. If you can locate a buddy for her/im that would be great. Keep up posted.

Well after several days of struggling I had to help these two buggers out of their shell. I think they got too big to move around in the shell but, they are kicking and peeping like crazy! Hopefully they survive!

OES. I am so sorry. I hope herb sorry Egbert dosent get too lonely. But try a small stuffed animal and a mirror in there to keep him company. I also do an old wash wrag in mine for them to snuggle on.

He already has a mirror - we used to have budgies years ago and used mirrors for them all the time. Also the wee one has my yellow dishrag! He snuggles up to it all the time - it is "mummy". I also have a stuffed Rooster/hen toy sat looking through the side at him but have not found a toy soft or small enough to go inside and get pood on! My grandaughter is most insistent he doesn;t get her toys after she noticed the lego! Darn

She was ok after I explained he needed it to look at himself in the mirror or he would be lonely!

thanks for your help in all this it was indeed very sad. I am still smarting from all the losses in this house over these two years. Started me off over my mum and my dog ( died last year) all this - !

Oes -

Just a quick update on the lonely chick.
S/he Eggbert is doing great. A month old and the feathers are filling out. Loves food and makes a great loan of noise if it is fed later! Or if s/he doesn;t have its "mirror friend" in with it.
S/he thinks its a budgy at the moment as it is swinging about in the budgy cage - lol! It has mastered the art of hopping from one roost bar to another and likes to be in the budgy cage because I take it round the house with me and so it follows what I do all day! We are handling it a lot to get it as tame as possible.

- Sadly we lost another of the hens a few days back so 5 gone since January. - Mable was only a young bird. We are treating with Tylan but don;t know what is killing them off. So little one wont be going outside anytime soon.
