May trade for a new horse thoughts please?

Me too still waiting for video I can see. I called her today and she said she would have her son help here later but I never got anything again. Last night she said she sent it but it said something like file was too big. She is trying to send it too my husbands phone.

I will call her tomorrow again and let her know I did not get it.

Terina - I'm not sure if the seller shared with you, she has cancer and has opted to take the last year off of chemo after four years.

She has good days and bad days. With the stress of the holidays, I would imagine she may have more bad days then good.

Are you able to make a road trip and just come see Buddy and ride him for yourself? Drop your son off at family and then if everything's a go, come back with your trailer and pick up your son and Buddy?

I would encourage you to keep your mare or trade her for a better pasture mate. If funds are an issue, rent out your pasture to another horse that would serve as a great pasture mate and help supplement your feed bill.

Thank you, she did not share that with me. I just got the impression she does not know how to load the video and she said a few times she was gonna have someone else do it.

I have not advertised her it is hard to even think about it. The owner of buddy thought he would be ok without a pasture mate but I am in no hurry to get rid of Daizy at this point. Sometimes I just think it is better for me and her.

If I did come over it would be just the one trip like I discussed with the owner the other day. It would be really nice to see the horse better and moving before coming that far.

Buddy is easy going and maybe she thinks he would be ok alone but horses need to be part of a herd.

Maybe part of Daizy's problem is not having a pasture mate. Another issue I see is you not taking an active role in being the herd leader and letting Daizy know what is ok and what is not. That is not your fault if you're not aware of it. Working WITH a trainer is going to be a great thing for you both.

The sooner the better. Buddy is an 'in your pocket' type of horse. You will need to know ground manners so he continues to know his place or he could turn into a HUGE in your space on your toes, leading you and you not leading him type of horse that you are afraid of. He is HUGE!

My first horse Kitty was that type of horse and it took daily reminders not to get so close that she would push me over, stepping on toes or rushing past Dixie (her pasture mate) to be the first to the hay or carrot in my hand pushing me over in doing so.

The horse we are talking about that I am looking at buying is on page 32....a big black gelding.

You're right, the quality is terrible, but what I do see is a gelding who is quiet and willing. He seems to me to be an excellent candidate for what you want, and certainly worth the time to go see him in person. He has obviously had a very good home where he is now and has been well-cared-for. The person riding him is hardly small and he has no trouble with her size and weight.

Good luck with this. I hope you have finally found the right horse for you. You've been really patient and looking for a long time. It seems like your patience may have finally paid off.
