I ordered 15 male Leghorns with my order to bulk it out, as they were only a dollar each. I plan on giving them away. It beats the small order charges of other places.

Ideal won't add extra males, either, if you ask them not to. I ordered 5 last year and got only what I ordered with no packing peanuts because I asked them not to add them.

I got two batches of 25 last fall from MM and they added 3 Australorps to my order and there were 2 pullets and a cockerel that were the extras. I guess they just thought it would be good to throw in the extras, and that was fine with me. I just wish my puppy hadn't found out how to massacre them.

Just got my order in today from Murray McMurray - still trying to figure out what two of the chicks are. I have all 25 I ordered, plus one exotic freebee... all this including one that is obviously not one I ordered, so if only I knew what it was! My luck.. a big ol loud Roo! LOL!

I've ordered twice from ideal-poultry.com(both VERY small orders) I requested no extra chicks for heat and there was a VERY VERY small fee...I think for 8 chicks with the fee and shipping is was about $25!!! Anywho...they were awesome!!! Great People...Great customer service...no heating pad added though..so for really small orders I would just wait until springtime at least to play it safe. Cackle will do 15. They have this nifty little box that just holds 15.
