Membrane looks brown peeping and movement has stopped help!

You're welcome! I'm happy to help. Rough hatches are always scary. Any more pips on the other eggs?
No but they are not actually due until tomorrow. I'm thinking the ones that were early may have been the ones with the worst saddled air cells. They ran out of room sooner and i supect were also malpositioned due to this. I do remember that three had saddles more than half way down the egg.

Jeez, the fact that they survived at all is a miracle then! that's an insanely large air cell, although i understand how air cells wind up so screwy in shipping.. fingers crossed on a good hatch rate for the rest of the ducklings!

Thank you yes when I set them I knew I was in for trouble lol. Oh and they are Cayugas :)

Oh and being the first time I have ever even incubated anything in my life I think I may be insane lol

Oh!! They're going to be so beautiful! I considered Cayugas, but eventually decided on Muscovies because of temperament/noise. I love the look of Cayuga ducks, and it was a difficult decision. Those black and green shimmery feathers though :love stunning!

This is your FIRST hatch?? Congratulations!! Trust me, you'll get addicted to it soon enough haha! I've hatched Button and Coturnix quail (both of which were an excessive hassle, naturally with shipped eggs, and yet i still haven't learned my lesson!), Black Sex-Link chicks, and now i'm on to Muscovy ducks, because apparently I have lost control over my life
:barnie
No, but seriously, you're going to have an incredible time with these little dudes. Watching chicks you single-handedly brought into the world grow up into beautiful adult birds is the most satisfying thing on earth. What kind of a shelter do you have set up for them now (or will you in the future)? or are they going to be indoor ducks? lol

Oh god no I am not an indoor fowl person I will be counting the days till they can go out lol

Honestly I won't do shipped eggs again.. Unless it's to try to get peacock pheasants because I reeeeaaallly want some lololol

I actually got the bator because I want to do a few hatches of meat birds per year. Something hardy and easy to hatch!

They will free range in a half acre paddock under my fruit trees during the day and sleep in my barn at night. My other ducks do the same but just sleep in a pen half covered by a tarp. It's 15 x 30 feet. They are inside in the portacot brooder below now, then I have a big tractor hutch thing to put them in during the day when they are older I will put the heat pad in the hutch part in the barn at night till they are feathered out.

Indoor fowl people are so funny to me; how can someone deal with changing diapers every day for indoor ducks and chickens? That must be hell! It's like having an infant for 10+ years! Albeit, birds at least serve as a form of entertainment when infants only poop and scream, but honestly! :lau

These babies sound like they're going to be in duck heaven with a half acre range and a nice barn to sleep in. Spoiled birds! What kind of meat birds were you thinking? I don't eat meat, personally, but I've done enough research and have enough family members who raise dual-purpose birds to give pointers if you need them. I know Muscovy ducks are apparently one of the healthiest birds to eat, and they're great mothers that reproduce like crazy given the chance. You wouldn't have to use an incubator if you bought chicks! And I know austrolorps (spelling?) are apparently decent meat.
