Metzer Farms quality...

I may be ordering from Metzer Farms soon, as it appears I may have hatched three call duck drakes and one solo hen. Not yet positive, but only one of 'em quacks loudly. I have two whites and two greys. I think only one of the whites is a girl. That's not gonna be good before too long! And if I found eggs somewhere and hatched 'em (like I did these), you can bet I won't improve the the ratio all that much. *sigh*

ETA: Oh, great, just discovered Metzer doesn't sell calls! Auuugh!

bibl, those ducks are Welsh Harlequins. The speckling on the bills turns to a more solid slate color as the get older. Wendy still has a few "freckles" but it is mostly dark now.

P.S. Who else thinks it's cool that John Metzer's on here?!

We have some of the big hatchery owners pop up from time to time. It's a great way to get feedback from your customers.

It is going to depend on your area. And are you selling hatching eggs or eating eggs?

Do a craigslist search and see if anyone near you is selling eggs.

I can charge around $7/dozen for hatching eggs. (kept at about 60º and hand turned during collecting)
Eating eggs I have trouble getting more than $3/dozen, which is a crime since duck eggs are so huge.

I just got my runners Saturday, via a member here ( slackwater) who hatched them from some eggs from Metzer's. Here they are, 6 months old, and I love them already!

Aren't they beauties?

Yeah the blue hen is really pretty. And the fawn and white one is the littlest. She's just a little smaller than the other hens.
