Got some silkie bantam babies in the mail on the 25th. They’re different from raising a barred rock mix, who’s much louder and active. These guys tend to sleep a lot and run away from sunlight. My barred rock would always sprint to it and flop over.
These guys are pretty cute though, and they always end up asleep on their chest. Totally freaks me out.
My barred rock bantam mix had a lot more energy than these guys. These guys aren’t able to stand up very well, their legs feel much more fragile than hers were.
To be honest I’m a little worried since I’ve heard that chicks from overbred birds have weaker genetics. And that it’s common that breeders of bantams overwork their birds.
