I tried giving the chicks to Ivy last night, but she wouldn't take them. She was trying to kill them. I gave her several chances, but she just keeps attacking them. I'll have to try giving them to Ash I guess. I think that I'm going to just break Ivy. She's done so well sitting but she's not being a good mom. She has sat for 36 days straight, but she won't stop trying to kill the babies.

I love the light one. The one on the left, the last remaining Lavender (which is actually black I think) I'm 99% sure is malpositioned. I can't find his beak anywhere, and he has not externally pipped on his own yet. Determined not to lose him, I opened it up a bit. I need this one to live, I have been the most excited for this egg all along. It always looked so perfect.
I'm wondering if the light chick is a splash Ameraucana? I hope so!!!!

My last egg died.
It was my Lavender Ameraucana baby who was really malpositioned. It was so cute. It was alive half an hour ago, but when I just checked it was dead. I opened it up, it was definitely not ready yet. There was a lot of veining and yolk still. But guess what, severe crossbeak.

Yeah. I just threw her back in the run, hopefully she calms down. Otherwise, to broody jail with her.
I was nervous that this might happen. Luckily, (or not luckily, however you want to view it, lol) I have two other broodies to try.
I put Ash (one of the new broodies) in the broody coop with rocks under her. She's sold on the rocks. She's not very bright.
She's been broody for about a week, @CluckNDoodle do you think I could try to put these chicks under her soon? She's always been a really docile thing so I think she'd be nice, but Idk.

What do you think about baby #3? Do you think Rain(boe) is pure, or mixed with an Orpington? I know #1 is not ours, but I'm 99% positive that baby #2 is pure. #3, Idk.
