Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

I have 51 eggs saved up so far and gonna stick them under my broodies tomorrow and cross my fingers! I know my girls will take great care of them, I have 9 broodies right now dieing to sit on eggs and get soooooo mad when I snatch the eggs away. So I'll have some happy mommas tomorrow!

Hi all. I'm hoping one of our 4 hens go broody this spring. If/when (we DO have a silkie) that happens, I'm planning on getting some fertile eggs. Okay to join here, even if we are planning to use a feathered incubator, and not a plug in model?

Broodies are the best incubators! It's the whole reason I have silkies!!

That makes me really excited actually. I really want to use broodies to hatch during the warm weather and I have a bunch of silkie eggs in the incubator right now.

Wow lots of silkies to be hatched soon by the sounds of it on this thread. We are looking to start eggs next month. They will be our first. I'm hoping to find a few silkies to put in with the rest we get. Still deciding what breeds we want.

dd and i candled 2 eggs out of the 20 and they are doing awesome for day 9.. we try not to mess with the eggs to much till day 18 when we take the turner out.. that is when we candle every egg..


9 broodies and 50 eggs.. how eggciting..

Naglady do you have have that many broodys? Holy cow. I thought it was bad when 3 of the barred rocks went broody at once.

I have 52 eggs saved and 9 broodies with 3 more thinkin about goin broody!
I think its funny cause im tossin out frozen eggs plus givin eggs away for eatin too so im over run in eggs and currently amount of eggs are down. Lol!
