Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We knew this day would eventually come. Didn't think it would be this soon. Have to get rid of all of my birds in two and a half weeks. Zoning people for our area stopped by and said we will have two weeks from when we get our notice in the mail. Right now, we are looking at different options before we start getting rid of any.

Ugh that is awful! I'm glad you have family that can take in your birds. I hope everything can be worked out - I want to get more seramas from you in the years to come. :) The chicks I got from you at the spring Fowlfest are doing great. I ended up with 6 pullets and 4 cockerals, so I am pretty happy with that ratio. I found a good home for one pair, and will probably rehome one more pair to leave me with two trios. I was planning on keeping all the pullets, but I feel better about selling them in pairs. I am trying to only keep smooth roosters so I can hopefully get some frizzle pullets from you at chickenstock or the fall fowlfest in birch run. I hope everything goes smoothly with finding some land for your feathered family.

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things does not belong... any guesses? :D

Also trying to decide which two of these three cockerals to keep. I wasn't expecting the pretty mille fleur coloring on the one, but he seems a bit larger. I will probably wait until they grow out more before rehoming one of them.

Raz, mow down the butterfly garden?! Sheesh. Unfortunately, I think your neighbors are going to continue to passive-aggressively harass you. Is moving and renting a possibility? Are you interested in leaving your current home?

I love the paint job what a difference. I agree the little ones are so funny. The old ladies are so determined to keep the little guys in their place. My little guys are about 4 months and one of the cockerel's got frisky with one of the old ladies she got so mad that she pecked his head and hung on poor guy just doing what nature told him to do and the old lady didn't care.

One of my little 8 week old roos mounted one of my older hens! It was hilarious! He's half her size.

My husband just took a new job as a year round camp on Lake Michigan. Wheeeee!! We're pretty excited, but for the time being, we have to be flaky with summer plans.
I'd like to come to Chickenstock with my husband and 2 kids, but we won't likely know if it's feasible until closer to the event. Okay to just show up with pot luck stuff and maybe raffle items? And maybe a porcelain d'uccle cockerel and silkie cockerel (or maybe a pair if we can bear to give her up).

RaZ -- I get the "legal" part of this... But gol dang, this really starting to sound like harassment to me.

I think at this point I would call ACLU. Now your butterfly garden??! ***! Omgoodness I just got censored! I said "What in the world!!!!!!!" sort of.

Another visit by the ordinance officer...
More threats and harassment. I have to remove the straw bale planters and mow down the butterfly garden.
I need to work faster on the garage and porch because he can't see the progress.

I also have to re-home the Sebrights by June 22. So if they aren't gone sooner, I will be bringing them to CS.

The last thing he said was that I should move and rent out my house.
YOU ARE A ROYAL PAIN IN THEIR A---- and they want you GONE I am so sorry you are having all this trouble

What did they mean by that? I'm guessing it wasn't in a sympathetic tone.

Raz dont they have a real crime to solve. man this is disturbing to me that they can even get away with harassing you.. mow down a butterfly garden.. what next..

Man, at this point I would be tempted to start heading out to all the goodwills, St. Vincents, etc. and buying as much crappy holiday decor as I could get my hands on. If they don't like your landscaping, perhaps they would be more interested in looking at Christmas lights and Santa figurines all year long....some people really need to get lives!!!
