We have dispatched 7 or 8 raccoons so far... still more to deal with. Not a pleasant task. Never had this many before.

Might want to let that pile sit awhile, before taking just the outer layers off a bit at a time.

I'll be doing that. I have enough space to have several piles at various states of composting and curing. Gives me plenty of opportunities to play with the tractor.

I made some chips from the 25 tress i cut for maple syrup next spring...great for my pig pens!

Devil dog has killed 4 raccoons and a skunk so far. The chipmunks are like a plague here. The cat hunts them but I don't know how many he has caught. I need a new chippy trap since the old one got beat all to hell and doesn't work. Next payday (hopefully)

Just looked it up. Looks like a short barred rock. Never heard of them, either.

The only place that I know of that has them is Sand Hill preservation, and they sell only shipped chicks

Not at all. My old chip piles turned to dirt in a bad spot (think mud). When I removed a bunch of trees for syrup I decided all the limbs/leaves/needles/whatever would be a nice chip for the gardens and pig pens.
