Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The new "like" button reminds me of Facebook. Haven't looked at the emojis you can use on a post, so I am writing a post to see them 😉

all the original emotes and some new ones!

The rest of the emojis are very similar also.
Kinda like FB, yes ....
.... reminds me of when Apple went to desktop icons, then everyone else went to that too.

I’m from Jackson and just starting out with meat turkeys, does anyone have an idea where I can buy poults in the spring? TSC only has Broad Breasted and it sounds scarce at that

I grew up in SW 'mitten' and as such enjoyed going to the Turkey farm Restaurant & many a 4th of July for dinner and amazing fireworks!

If it's not to far a drive, I'd go for a visit to ask if they sell hatchlings as well as everything else? And while there get a yummy dinner.... Then walk across the drive to that antique barn to walk off dinner.

/Oh the memories..... (Happy sigh)

Regardless, best of luck in your hunt.

Welcome to BYC and the Michigan Chat thread.
For heritage breeds would probably have to order from a hatchery that carries them.

Or call them first, I seriously doubt they sell live birds.

New look for the forum after last night's update. I like it. :thumbsup

Looks like they are getting ready to set some new power poles. At least I hope so. This is the main line that runs through the south side of my property. The pole in the turn-around is severely damaged and should have been replaced years ago. They just slapped a sleeve on it and added a guy wire. The cable anchor is loose in the ground. It been hit by snowmobiles and trucks a few times.

So this machine is a trimmer. They cut back a lot of branch overhang near the power lines. They also took out a few dead trees along the way. They had a lot of brush down that they ground up with a skid-steer machine. Right now the trail looks pretty ugly but come spring I'll be able to get it ready for my pheasant habitat restoration project.

It was interesting to watch how these machines worked the landscape. And as a bonus, I'll get some firewood.

Welcome @Hplayer13 ! There are more options than TSC too, we now have Family Farm and Home, Soldans (Lansing area), Stock and Field, and Rural King near Hartland (Brighton) area that may stock different turkey poults. I would call them all to see what their plans are.
I believe most of the stores order from Townline Hatchery and some will do special orders. Looks like Townline only offers WBB and BBB in their catalog.

Nasty here......couple-few inches of snow last night, then freezing rain, now drizzly rain with temps up to 38°F. Was able to shovel path the coop(not too bad early) and part of run.
Tried to clear other places, impossible for me to lift and toss the slush.
Temps are supposed to plummet tonight(17) with more snow(4-5") and stay well below freezing for 5 days/nights.
Hope it doesn't all turn to a solid ice pack so I can't use the thrower to clear the driveway tomorrow. 😬 :fl
