Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Out of desperation, I found a better way to collect the leaves. Well - better than my other options at the time anyway.

I managed to knock my back out of place just as the maples dropped their leaves. (That. Is NOT the better way part!) Spasms, sciatic issues, yuck, and had to watch beautiful, dry, calm days pass. Eventually, it got better enough to get outside enough to hold the bags open for Dh to empty the mower bagger into. So we did that for the side yard. (That isn't the better way part either). Then he had late days at work and I healed some more so I tried with a rake - slow going but managed some.

It became obvious the rain was coming faster than I was going. So, I skipped the bagging. The garage is knee deep in loose leaves. That is the better part - at least they will be dry when I bag them for chicken coop bedding next year. And bagging is better out of the wind - I don't fight the wind for the leaves.

Me too. Brings back memories of the time I worked in Mexico City. Hotel menu was great. But the street vendors had the best food ever!
Most food truck have better food. I do not eat Mexican food but I love El Toro in Brighton. They have what I can eat and they know I do not eat spicy and my food is just the way I like it.

Well, All day rain forecast. Went out and changed all the tarps for clear plastic. Got time to fold teh tarps I removed when it started raining. So blessed! Unable to finish the last part of teh roof. It will take more time and there was only a 2 hour window before the rain. Another day!
Baby mama Tia (smallest of sebrights) made such a full deal for a little tiny baby eggs this morning for about an hour. All the rest followed. It was a very noisy morning, lol

Dealing with a disabled Jeep. Missed an appointment with a specialist that I need to see. Took 3 months to get this appt. Have an MRI tomorrow night and I need to NOT miss it. My mechanic is going to try to fix the car or band-aid so I can get to the appointment. It's an hour drive to the clinic. I hope I have enough gas to get there. And back.

Who'da thunk that retirement would be so bad?

Jeep has been repaired and the shop is letting me pay later when I get my SSI allowance. I have to take it back in tomorrow so he can clear the computer code and make sure that the repair will hold. The cooling fan control relay replacement is different from the original. But the factory repair bulletin says the replacement is supposed to be better. Trouble is that it is a different size and shape and didn't fit where the original was. Had to be jury rigged to secure it close to where it is supposed to sit. Duct tape and baling twine are my friends.

Pastele, Pastie, Tamale, Empanada - all meat filled, hand-held and delicious.
Tamales is meat filled "corn masa" or maize dough. We do not eat those. Well, many do but it is not a palate from Puerto Rcio. Pasteles is a pork, chicken or beef filled dough that is made from various root vegetables like casaba, green bananas (not the common at the stores which I learned those have been gassed so they ripe sooner), plantains , and my favorite, taro root.
For us empanadas are from Jamaica and it is the same but the meat is a bit more spicy. The shell can be different texture and it is not gluten free as for it is made of flour. (Sally)
However, (Sally) I can make potatoe fillings that are gluten free unless corn starch has any gluten. That I amnot sure atthis moment but can look it up. T\Yeap, I use corn starch which is gluten free, YEAH! I can also use boniato which is like sweet potatoe with corn meal (gluten free)

I think this is the only reason that keeps me from getting a jeep. I just drive a good old falling apart chevy and does wonders, :lau
