Happy Labour Day.
I'm not getting anything done at all. Pain level is just too high to do any thing. Right arm is in a sling that the ER gave me last week. Pain meds aren't working at all. I have a darn sinus infection on top of it all. I'm falling apart.

Here is my girl Betty. I wish my dad was here to see this. I think he would have really liked it.

By the way, Betty is pretty good looking!! I love car shows. I love going thru KY and stopping at the corvette museum. Even if I do not go in, there are cars around that are very nice looking. I love the 1957 corvette. That is my favorite.

Riss-- Take care of your body while it's young, and it will repay you by working better, longer. 60 year old Riss will thank the Riss of today.

Hi Everyone! Everything nice down this way. Kind of "chilly" but I really enjoy the cold. So far, 3 days I have not had to turn the ac on,
Blanch is not showing as those feather are going to come out. It kind of worries me a little bit. Everyone else is being as onry as they can be. Especially the littlest one Tia. SHe does clucks like a terodactil bird from movies. She is pecking on everyone, no matter how big they are. She has some character. At night, she fights for the corner until Phoebe says it is enough and sends her away. Poor Sophia, the naked neck is the the one at the bottom of the society. She is always unwelcomed near anyone in the roost. At the end, they go to sleep and cuddle. Some even sleep standing up. I though it was weird but the more I see it, I am convinced that it must be natural on them. Not me, after being standing and walking around all day, I want to lay and put my legs up,

Noticed that as they keep growing, they are a bit heavier so today had hub help me re-do those stairs I had made and also lowered the roost a few inches. Tomorrow, I am cleaning the inside completely and make sure all the cracks and holes are covered with caulking and put new sand in. Soon I will have to change it to wood chips so they are ready for winter. I am hoping it is not too hard on them and praying that not one gets sick neither. I have been studying Aart's coop and stuff to see how I can improve their quarters. I was also snooping around where they were talking about automated coop doors. Crap, they have one that works with google and alexa, of course, it is for a whooping 300 bucks but I might get the cheapest one T50. The electricity I have there is limited to a heavy duty extension cord and do not want to put more than I should. a light, a fan and a camera is more than enough. In the winter the fan is out and the heating goes in. I do not want to over do it.

That's what I have too. It's a 3 plug thing, rated for exterior use. We drilled a hole in the garage wall, and plug it in to an outlet inside.

One plug for the heated water bowl.
One for the string of white Christmas lights I had in the run because it was so dark. It might not be needed when we get the polycarbonate sheets up for the roof.
One for another heated water bowl, probably.

Hi all,
Here is a cockerel that I like a lot. Easter Egger/mish mash breed. I'll likely keep him and see if I can get a smallish easter egger breed going. I have several pullets to breed him too, a white one, a blue one, a couple wheatens and even some frizzles.

Is the heater for a waterer or......?
The heater is probably going to draw much more power than light/fan.
Any power source to a coop should be plugged into a GFCI, or better yet an AFCI.
That's the only electrical advice I can give.

Dream, you don't need a heater for the coop. You'll need a heated waterer. I use a heated dog bowl that has worked great for me since I don't have hens with big wattles. I do have electricity in my coop since I have a son in law that is an electrician.
Just came back from a camping trip in Holland. Was lots of fun. One more on the list. South Haven for the Halloween bash. Still working on my zombie dolls and some "guts" and painting flamingos into vultures. Can't wait!
Raz, grapefruit is suppose to help clear out sinus infections. Juice, or maybe grapefruit seen extract to knock it out. Feel better. Hope your shoulder feels better soon. I thought when my shoulder was hurting that the doctor would put me in a sling and tell me to rest it. Instead, I went to PT where I had to do exercises to help strengthen the rotary cuff. It worked. So maybe you need therapy.

I need to get one of those heated water bowl. Which one do you recommend?
