Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Why is the back of the refrigerator always colder then the other areas.

I got a lot done today but it was just the piddly stuff that doesn't get noticed. There is a nice fire going and the house is warm as toast. Already it is below 30 and only going to get colder tonight. Going to stoke up the fire then go to bed. Sleep warm tonight.

A 2021 appropriate start to Thanksgiving week. This happened last night during the cleaning cycle with fireworks, ect.
We may be having subs for Thanksgiving. 😁.

I have used the cleaning cycle exactly once in the last 10 years. It kind of freaks me out.
I get that! It is worth it to not have to clean the oven any of the other ways I know of, though. The fire extinguisher is returning to under the sink (from in the garage), and it is a good time for a refresher for everyone of where the breaker box is ... several of us have moved in the past year... and the class A, B, C fires.

It was at my daughter's house. It will be the kids and I there this year. She kind of freaked out a bit; she was in the kitchen at the time. Thankfully, her husband was home too. She knew what to do and I'm sure would have gotten it done ok but he had the breaker off in seconds - before she gathered herself. She got as far as "I know not to use water on an electrical fire." They are both awesome!!

I never really understood what depression was or could be until I had the open heart procedure last year. The cardiac discharge information talked about it and so did my cardiologist. Looking back I can see the signs. I think I had it but wasn't dealing with it. There is a lot to look out for and I was ignoring the signs. I need to separate the physical pain from the mental version. And break a lifetime of being told to keep that crap to yourself.
Depression is very real for many who have undergone cardiac surgery. When I was in grad school I did a very intersting study on the impact of routine aerobic exercise (cardiac rehab) on women with and without depression after coronary bypass or valve replacement. Two study arms: traditional individual rehab and peer group-rehab. Two groups: no depression, some depression at baseline. Long term depression (called dysthymia) was not included. The peer group often went on to complete and sustain post rehab exercise. But both groups saw elevated biochemical levels associated with mood for up to 60 min post exercise, depressed group levels waned faster. Peer group reported less depressive episodes from baseline, more positive long term outlook and improved perceived quality of life at 12 months post op.
Conclusion was routine exercise is beneficial in reducing depressive symptoms short term, is more likely to be sustained amoung a group of peers and result in better perceived quality of life.
Hang in there and stay open with friends!! 🤗
