Good evening all! Does anyone have any good ideas on how to keep a turkey from roosting on top of the coop? Whoever said the chickens will come out of the rain haven't met mine. Almost all of them are sopping wet on their roost for the night. A couple don't even look like my chickens anymore. Raindrop the silkie is so wet you can see some of her skin in places. They will all be dry by morning. Thank goodness no rain in the forcast tomorrow.

I do. I feed them each evening around dusk.( That way I can also sleep in if I wanted to.) That brings most everyone in or into the yard. But as soon as I am back out of site Daisy is up to the roof. So there is me and Art, due to me being so short, trying to chase her off with a leaf rake. Then she flies down and heads into the coop. Mostly I think she does it to laugh at us.

Well I will try the treat thing tomorrow. Their feeders are also in the coops. But something yummy is always better. Thanks for the advice MJ. It is always welcome. By the way do you know what your SG turkeys are yet?

MJ have you heard from Staples? I misplaced his number. If you see or hear from him can you have him call me? That would be great if you have one of each. My male has a lot more color than the female.

I thought the top was too flimsy, too. I seriously had to change my clothes like 11 times...Put on your rain clothes and hip boots and go try it again.... It will work, and you will end up loving it!

Cat, are you talking about the one that has a red base with a little hole thing in the bottom you can fill w/ the hose?

Dude! They do seem flimsy...when I got it I saw it had a 1 yr warranty...

...not sure how long it's gonna do its heated-waterer thing. How long have y'all had yours?
I've had a few spills too...it really surprised me when it first happened!

And when you fill it all the way it feels like the handle is gonna break off...

I don't fill it very full now and it seems to do fine.

After a bath or two in below freezing weather I finally mastered the heated waterer flip. You can fill it all the way and if you buy one I would start practicing now. I sit the water on its top and fill through the bottom hole. Re-install plug. If you are right handed, place left hand on center of bottom (avoid placing pressure on the edges)Tip unit slightly and slide right hand under top grasping handle while lifting unit. Raise right upward quickly and remove left hand at the ame time. Piece of cake..............yeah right. Actually it jut take a little practice.
