Here is a pic of one of my young splash BLRW.

BLRW come in BBS, Blue, BLack, and Splash. The blues have darker lacing around the red, and the blacks look similar to golden laced wyandottes, but the red is more intense. They are very sweet birds with tons of personality. They rank right up there with my Delawares. And that's saying a lot! We currently have splash pullets with a black and a splash roo, so all offspring will be splash or blue. I have eggs in the incubator from my hens, plus I have eggs from 2 different bloodlines we will be adding to our flock including sterling center in NY. She has some of the most amazing BLRW I have seen.

Sorry, picture is kind of dark. Victor was very dark and complimented my splash hens perfectly. I don't have any pics of the nice blue color on here, maybe someone else does. Once I get everything else up and running again, I hope to recover some of those pics.

Hey guys I am having a brain fart here. Our wellie eggs went into lockdown last night and I filled up the outer water area in the incubator. What humidity do I want for the last 3 days? Is 70% to high? I know I should know this but can't for the life of me remember.

Old age I guess.

Thanks

Hatch day is Friday. We will have wellie chicks for chickenstock if anyone is interested.

I usually have mine about 60-65 % for lockdown. Once they start hatching the humidity will raise on it's own. I removed or replaced plugs to raise or lower the humidity. If I noticed the windows fogging up, I usually left the plugs out. I do the dry hatch method. I found it works best for me. I found out the hard way that humidity will vary depending on what the humidity is in your incubating area. 70 percent sounds ok though. Once my eggs starting hatching it was around there.

Bluemoon

I wanted to add...I'm also a rooster magnet. My last hatch looks like I have 7 out of 8.

There are two in question still. So, take what I say with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was ok. We used the dry method this time also but I filled up the water last night and checked them this morning the window was pretty foggy. Don't remember that happening last year. Only 2 more dead eggs to remove so we are expecting 15 new chicks. On top of the 18 in the brooder now my wife and I are thinking we have some sort of chicken sickness!

Michelle,

I know, it is bad isn't it?! When I ordered the goslings, I almost ordered ducklings to fill the rest of the order. Ellen "saved" me and ordered with me. Otherwise, I would have ordered some welsh harlequins too. I do not need more things to have separate pens for!!

But they are sooo cute!

We ordered from Metzers and they have a pretty good reputation. DO NOT TELL ME IF YOU ORDER!! As I may not be able to resist again!
