Mom2....Wait, wait wait...you're a grandma? No way! I saw your pic with your dog a few hundred posts back....no way do you look old enough to be a Gramma!

Opa, I don't know how you do it with all the perfectly timed quotes and philosophy. Also thanks for talking up the Folgers Black Silk a few thousand post ago. I ran out of my starbucks and bought some, twice as much coffee for the same price and it works just fine to start off the day. It won't however replace my evening Italian coffee.

Nova, I have already learned my lesson from this thread. Never ever use my wifes ipad to post, you never know what word will be inserted by apple, and Thank You for the welcome.

Taprock, really snow this time of year, how far north do you live. My wife is terrified I am moving her to the artic circle or something, if she sees this I will never hear the end of it.

Elliemae 77 and 1Muttsfan: thanks for the welcome, I had been lurking in the shadows for too long.

Uchytil: Thank you for your 31 years of service, it is because of people like you that I still have the honor of serving. My generation in the military is reaping the recognition from the foundations of service you laid. To many people have forgotten about the millions of men and women that stood tall against the threats to our nation during the 70's and 80's.

Raz - Geez I hope today is better for you than yesterday. Course you can't fall off the floor so it would almost have to be, right?

farmerboy - Jasper looks like a character, and Bella really lives up to her name!

ladyrsanti - Welcome and congrats on your new chicks!

teeville - gorgeous goats! How do you keep that cat from lunching on your chickens? Or is he all watch, no action?

EMAW/Scott - Welcome! Hopefully you'll be able to change your schedule and get to Chickenstock. I'm rather new here as well (and a new returnee to Michigan) but everyone here is great!

taprock - I know it's ugh but that picture is beautiful!

The picky eating conversation - someone mentioned horking up brussels sprouts. Those were one of the few things that I really couldn't stand as a kid (brussels sprouts, avocados and liver were the three things that I just would NOT eat). Of course, now, I love brussels sprouts and avocados! And while I still quite dislike fried liver/liver and onions, I do really enjoy some nice pate (though usually only the stuff I make). Braunschweiger is still right out. Ick.

Put the extension on the brooder last night and after they decided that it was safe to venture out in it (about 3 hours) they seem to have decided it's great. Though it does seem to have a bit of a Thunderdome feel to it. Sometimes they'll all be out in it scratching around and then a tussle will break out and all those not involved will go back into the old part and watch the combatants.

And it's still cracking me up that my dog will lay right next to it and let the chicks stick their (surprisingly long) necks out and peck at her nose.

Could be worse! I lived in Montana for a while and it snowed 12 months out of the year there. Literally. You could count on at least 6 inches of snow right around the 4th of July. Course 2 days later it would be 80 degrees again.

Wow, friends of my family retired in Great Falls funny how they never mention those kind of events when talking up Montana life. BTW I love the snail avatar, did you draw the picture?

I have to add onto the picky eater conversation. I am very lucky that my 2 kids like a variety of veggies and food. But my kids get spinach shakes for dessert, yep spinach and my four year old son always wants seconds. I usually go through an entire bag of spinach when I make them for the 4 of us. Simple really, spinach, frozen fruit (your choice on variety(s)), milk or juice and some honey to sweeten, if you want it a little thicker add yogurt also. Blend for about a minute until the spinach is all chopped up and serve. It is a really good way to get the green leafy veggies into there system. I think my wife saw this on Oprah or something but they are good.

Eeyore - did you follow Molly the Owl?

No, I'm not familiar with her.

Thanks but no, I didn't draw it. Not that talented artistically, unfortunately. They probably never mention the snow because in the summer, when you live there, it's like a little bonus! I break from summer heat and you can ski in July without traveling anywhere! And really, whatever nice things they say about Montana are true. That was one of the best places I ever lived.

Also the spinach shakes sound good!

I can only think of a line for the movie "Bridge Over The River Kwai" where the prison commandant extolls the prisoners to be happy in your work.

I love my work, but some days I wish I didnt have to love it so much.

thank you thank you...and while technically, I AM old enough to be a grandma (thank you son and daughters for not reproducing just yet), my grandson comes from my step-daughter. However, after putting thirteen years into their lives, they are just as much mine as they are his. :) She is 29. My other stepdaughter is 24..married, well into her career, and hopefully will consider adding another grandchild to our lives at some point in the future.

Did you see the pictures I left you? No need to grumble.
i DID! And they are growing and they are adorable! :)
