Thanks very much. My Mom and I were very close and I still miss her very much. It's been 10 years.
On another note... DH is having problems with empty nest syndrome so we started a new tradition in our family. He wants the kids here for dinner once a month. We usually have get togethers for holidays and birthdays and such but that is with extended family also. DH just wants the kids here once in a while. So tonight we had our first monthly dinner. It was nice!

I would have gone to Fowl Fest this weekend, but it was Homecoming for the school district where I work -- and I am in charge of the entire event (parade, dance, you name it, I run it...

). So yeah...I just spent all day recovering.

Hi everyone. Fowlfest looked like fun. I really would love to go next year.

Boy it sure does freeze your fingers hanging clothes on the line in this cool weather.

I was outside feeding the chickens this evening and the little Serama roo was crowing. It was soooo cute.

You still look like a covergirl/amazon warrior in contemplation of war and peace...... of the opossum kind

Nice cold morning

While taking the boy to school a whole herd of deer ran out in front of me on the dirt road. It was great to see. It'll be even better on november 15th if that same group runs in front of my stand.

Welcome to the thread!! I am not from that area, but I have heard that it can be hard to find an avian vet and that it is quite expensive if you do find one. Is it something that you could treat yourself at home with antibiotic? I've had to do that before. Someone else on here may know of a vet for chickens, though, too.

well i have tryed duramycin-10 and it did not work ..not sure what else to try my girls have runny nose ,weezing ,watery eyes , some kind respiratory thing ,they had foul pox first then this ..posted about it in er , they said cull cull or vet ..but i can't cull untill all hope is gone and i can't find a vet .sorry to go on and on just frustrated and sad .

I did have some issue with that this spring. I was worried about them and did give them terramycin or duramycin (from TSC), which I think the two do the same thing. I also gave them Apple Cider Vinegar in there water (make sure to use only plastic waterers when using ACV). I know some would disagree, but someone told me that changing weather can do this to them. And it could very well be some sort of illness, too. The terramycin didn't seem to do much, but after a week or two they were better and there were no casualties. I guess I'd give them the medicine for the recommended week or two, give them ACV, and maybe some vitamins. I think they say you can give them infant vitamins with no iron. Not sure the dosage, but you can find it on other threads on here. Check the Emergency/Illness threads for dosage on ACV and vitamins. Hope this helps and hope they get better. Are they acting normally? Mine acted just fine except for the sneezing and runny nose. Good luck!

Morning Ya'll!!!
I haven't been making my appearance on BYC so I thought it was about time I did when I heard my reputation as a chicken-fanatic was being cracked at! Vicki!!!

You know you could've gotten up at the butt-crack off dawn and gone to the fowlfest and made it to Hannah's party! lol The kitten is doing well and it very cute and friendly...can't believe someone would throw her into a ditch.

My daughter is now 6 years old! yayee! Poor kitten is going to forget how to walk if she doesn't put it down soon!

I'm trying to get over my yearly bout of bronchitis and trying to get the animals ready for winter...which leads to lots of hacking and hot tea breaks. My BR's are doing well. The rooster, Frank the Tank, is a handsome jerk who protects his ladies to the best of his ability...which includes attacking me if I look at them wrong LOL. Oh well, he's young and he'll hopefully get over it. My hens have really cut back on their egg out-put already so winter looks to be a store-bought season if I need a lot for the holidays. I went to an auction not too long ago and got a box of goodies which included a bucket heater for livestock so hopefully it works and my goats will have water, otherwise it's going to be a long winter of hauling water!!!

Hope everyone is having a good October!
