Good Morning all... catching up on posts from the weekend

It was an interesting night at my house last night.... It had to be the full moon! Have been working with our year old husky/lab mix on not chasing deer and not running the neighborhood. We now have him to where he dosen't run the neighborhood but.... last night I let the dogs out on the porch, and then went back in to get our pot bellied pig and let her out with them so they could all do their business and come in for the night. Well.. in the 5 seconds it took me to walk over and let the pbp out all 3 dogs were across the horse lot in the far corner and sure enough the youngest and the oldest stayed and came busting back (knew they were gonna get in trouble otherwise) BUT my husky mix took off running after the deer...

I jumped in the truck went over to the other side of the swamp/swail looking for him but he was gone.

Finally at 4 in the morning I hear a thump thump in the dog house outside went out and there he was. So, I hollered at him and he come slinking up the stairs and in the kennel in the house for the rest of the morning. Ohh he makes me so frustrated some times..

his biggest problem is deer! He thinks they are there for him to chase! This is the second time he has went after them and thank goodness he came back the first time!
I know some people disagree with using shock collars, but I have to say the only time I put it on him is when I take the dogs for their walks. We walk thru a 30 some acre field and the only time I have used it is the one time he went after the deer. After that one time he hasn't chased one since, I can yell at him and he will not run after them. But, last night I think all 3 had a big big brain fart!!!!!
Anyways, just had to vent for a minute

It makes for a long sleepless night when all my kids aren't in the appropriate places come bed time............

Hey Rose:
I wouldn't think so either, but wanted to throw it out there - after Steve get's his cast off (3 days and and is more mobile, I want to move the one wall of chain link fence so that they are restricted to areas that I can see 24/7...there should still be enough room for everyone w/out any fighting which is what I want to avoid.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the "Scooter Mockumentary" that Steve put together about his summer experience! You and KrisRose will love it!

Fowlfest is a great opportunity to see some nice birds and it cost nothing to get in. There are usually quite a few birds for sale but you had better get there early. Two years ago I bought two beautiful speckled sussex pullets but several other birds I was interested in were already sold and it was just a little after 9am. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it this year. I think I may be in southwest Misssouri then.

Opa what day did you go to get them? Is it Saturday morning during the silent auction or what? Id love to go.

Also does anyone have one or two splash cochin bantams for sale that would sell them for a decent price to a 4-Her. If not can u send me some info on someone who does.

Good Morning All,

I hope you all have a wonderful day.
I have to work, I have a stiff neck- must have slept wrong, and aggravated the arthritis, makes for a long day.

I am having a duck dilemma,,I have too many drakes, not enough females. I am tempted to add two female muscovies- to even the odds, but I don't know where to find any. Even so, even if I found someone who had females that they would sell- I still think I have too many males and that makes me sad. I may need to rehome a couple boys- and I am very attached to them so it really stinks. It is too hard to try and keep everyone seperate- not a large enough area for seperation.

I have a male and female runner (dumb male tries to and does mate everything, including my chickens). Those two were my original ducks. I have two male muscovy and one female. And the pair of Cayuga that I need to drive out to Keyt's place. That will give me three males to two females.

Are my drakes going to kill each other? Kill the females? *sigh* I dont know what to do...so far, everyone gets along but that is because only my runner is sexually mature and a mess of hormones. One of my females (the runner?) laid an egg in the pool yesterday. One of the first eggs- or maybe not, because it is as small as a chicken egg- I gathered three eggs from behind my tree and thought my frizzle hen had started laying. Little duck eggs, I guess.
