Hey Olive Hill, I just spoke with TSC in Hastings and Ionia and both have Leghorns. It was hard for them to determine if they were straight run or pullets though. May be a good time to check with the TSC around you. Hope this helps.

Keyt!!!
I never saw anything wrong with his eyes- or any of their eyes before- I dont know what that is? It looks like foam. Does he have something in his eyes like dust or dirt maybe and he is making eye 'spit' bubbles?

poor Penguin. I have no idea.

Keyt!! i GOOGLED THIS:
"...Is this duck a Muscovy?

Foamy eye is a common condition with Muscovy males, especially during winter, and is often nothing more than poor hygiene. I do believe there is a bacterial 'issue' that can cause foamy eye but I've never had any problems with it personally...."
I was too excited to find an answer to get the link..
here it is:

and here is this:

"...Foamy Eye
One of the more mysterious illnesses’s that the Muscovy duck is prone (particularly drakes) is foamy eye. Foamy eye is, simply that, excessive foaming of a duck's eye. Incidence of Foamy eye increases during times of stress and sudden weather changes. If foamy eye appears overnight and is not accompanied by unusual nasal discharge and/or other respiratory symptoms such as coughing and wheezing, then it probably is the result of an injury, irritant or poor hygiene. Feral Muscovy ducks, in particular, often lack clean water sources to bath. Daily bathing, which is essential for good duck health, often prevents this and other eye infections...."

What kind do you want? I am still waiting for a broody hen. I saw in the Highlites this week that someone was selling incubators for $50, used once. I was tempted to call and ask about them but DH reminded me that that was why I got the buff orps last year.

Thank you for letting me know, Andy. I'll check out TSC in the next few days. I can always risk the weird looks from other shoppers and vent sex the little buggars. And now is a perfect time because I've got a batch of young ones in the brooder coop now so they can fit right in.

They all seem to work to some level, but they seem to indicate that the best one and the best price is the Hova Bator from Gof Mfg. at www.GOF mfg.com.

I'm going to try the dry incubation by Bill Worrell this time, you can find the article by looking it up on a search for:'Incubation of chicken eggs by Bill Worrell' . We'll see what happens/.

Blessings

Harold

Wow, thanks. Only thing I can think of is the drastic change in weather temps. Other than that no idea. I'm sure he's not stressed, at least he's not acting like it. He seems to really like having all those other ducks and the pond. It doesn't seem to bother him. All I know is he didn't have it when he was let out this morning then when I went out to do afternoon feedings he had it.

Thanks bunches for the help!
