Praying Mantis freak me out, but we had one show up on the sliding glass door one day last fall and I was able to get some really cool pictures without having to be on the same side of the glass as it.

OLIVE HILL,

OK, I'M BURNED. GOSH I HAD NO IDEA "THAT" IS SO IRRITATING. I'M SORRY. I'LL TRY TO NOT DO IT AGAIN.

YOU SAID, "OPEN A REPLY BOX ON ANOTHER TAB IN YOUR BROWSER " TO ELIMINATE OR REDUCE SCROLLING. FOR ME, THAT MIGHT AS WELL BE GREEK CAUSE I'M NOT FLUENT OR EVEN COMPETENT IN COMPUTER SPEAK . JUST DON'T CONVERSE WITH FOLKS THAT ARE ENOUGH, I GUESS. I'M NOT COMPLAINING, JUST STATING MY IGNORANT CONDITION. IF I'M TO PLAY THIS FORUM GAME, I'LL HAVE TO LEARN. HUH

TEEVILLE,

I DIDN'T NOTICE YOU CUT DOWN ON NOVA'S POST UNTIL YOU SAID SO. THEN , I NOTICED YOU DID BUT NOT---- HOW . HOW? I REALLY WANT TO KNOW. I'M A COMPUTER DUD.

ANYONE KNOW HOW TO PRINT JUST A SECTION OF A POST? OR DOES THAT DEPEND ON THE COMPUTER AND/OR PRINTER?

Hmmm, last to bed and first to rise? This explains why I'm yawning so much this morning.

I'm here. :) :: waves hand ::

Chicken Grandma - Thanks! I really like my roo, he's only 4months old so his tail feathers haven't totally come in yet. Right now he's only sporting 2.

I can go right in the coop and pick him up. He's a big baby. If I can't find a home for him I do have someone really nice that will take him :)

Raz - the flashdrive I used was 16G. Enough space for my programs and homework but an external hardrive is wonderful too. Plus they are much cheaper now :)

Hump day! I hope everyone has a good one! Of the three eggs I got yesterday, only one was "fertilized", same EE egg layer (I can tell by the color). I have one blue egg in the fridge, I wonder if that one is fertile. :: resists the urge to crack it open ::

I TOOK THESE SEPT. OF 2006. NO TRIPOD - FEEDING FOR MANY - SHE'S GRAVID. I ALWAYS TRY TO SAVE THEIR EGG CASES IN THE GARDEN.

DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE I WOULD LOSE THE WHOLE THING IF I TRIED TO DELETE THE FUZZY PICT.

THIS HAS BEEN A 2 HOUR EXERCISE FOR ME. IT'S A ZINNIA.

SJ - my cousin Tim Cusack is one of the MC's for laughfest!
I've met Tim before when I worked in advertising at Meijer. He co-hosted a West Michigan chat type show and Meijer would have people come on and cook or demo new products.

At the very top left corner of the browser you should see the little chicken face and Michigan. To the right of that (depending on the browser) will be a little empty rectangle, like a mini-tab, or a plus sighn, or something. That is how you open a new tab.

Copy the text in the web address, something like... www.backyardchickens.com/t/..... Copy it all. Click on the new tab. Paste the web address in the address bar and press enter. You should now have 2 BYCs you can move between by clicking the tabs at the top.

Once you have your quotes in the editor, just highlight the parts you want to remove and press the delete key.

I don't think any browsers have a print selected text option. The best way to do that would be to highlight what you want to print, copy it and paste it into Word or something. If you use Word, the images and all should copy over. If you use just a text editor the pics will probably not now up.

DH has been working on the coop again the last few days. I am so excited for my chicks to come next month.

Bummer....

Had a baby chick die. Looks like it could not get back to its mama. I knew I should have gotten a different feeder. It got stuk in the feeder dish I had there. So, my fault. Poor baby.

Veena does not look better today. She is eating, crop is mushy. She has yucky butt, still pffed up, no eggs from her for three days. Gonna try and catch her again and trim her butt fur. I do not feel any egg stuck... She's going to confinement in the basement in the brooder box till I got her figured out. She does not have any stinky breathe. Gonna get a poop sample from her and take it to the vet office for a parasite check.

I don't work today so i am going to clean up the yard before it snows again. Dog doo, toys and sticks that have fallen down... Love yard work... No, I like gardening. Not cleaning up the sticks from Hades from all my trees!

Put your arrow/little line/cursor over the spot you want to start deleting. push down on the left side of the mouse, hold and pull down the mouse, covering all the parts you want to delete in blue. Let go. hit the backspace button, and it is done! To delete pics, put the arrow over the pic, and click the left side button on the mouse. The pic should show up blue. Hit delete, and voila! Sometimes i put my little line/cursor at a spot and just hit backspace to get rid of blank spots. Hope this helps! I am a dud too. (I did the bold to break this up a little for your eyes)

Snowflake, what exactly did you use to de-worm your chickens? Not all wormers work on all kinds of worms. One of the links under my post is a thread about deworming. I used a horse wormer on mine; i had definite evidence of roundworm and tapeworm . Must have come with one of them

I always used the preventative too; garlic, pumpkin seeds, DE...... Nope. Started getting surprises when i cleaned my coop. Keep in mind i mop the floor with bleach water every day in the summer, so it was not a cleanliness issue. As far as the great do you/don't you debate, all birds who eat bugs will get worms eventually. Grasshoppers are hosts for roundworms, for example. The general idea is that most healthy birds will only be able to host a "healthy" amount of them. Problems are when they get overloaded (you get the surprises) or they lose weight, etc. Personally, i do not want a "healthy" amount of worms in my stomach.....so i do an annual treatment for my birds and yes, i do a yearly treatment for myself too (black walnut) Just a personal preference.

OK, that means you are on to the sour crop. Good news is no more hard stuff. Bad news is she's fermenting grain in there. Be Very Careful what you feed her the next few days. Since she's not stinking, i take it as that you are in the beginning stage, and that is good. Definitly the buttermilk, and some diced garlic if you can get her to eat it. Mabe some cooked yolk, with that in it??? You have to keep her nutrition up, with as little actual solids as possible. (The goal is to get it to all pass as soon as possible) If all goes well, in around 2-3 days she'll be good as new. YOU HAVE TO KILL THE YEAST THOUGH. She ain't gonna like the interference, but you might make a friend of her yet!
