Midnight majesty marans

Here's one of my girls I captured the other day. She's beautiful! Her sister has more of a purple shine while she has more of a greenish hue.
Lovely birds. Just sharing something I learned from calling Hoover hatchery with different questions regarding my new additions to my flock , she said the green sheen is what you want, purple/ blue sheen means bad genetics or poor diet/health concerns. Not saying she is right, it’s just what she told me.

Mt. Healthy Hatcheries is selling the same bird as a sex-linked Noir Maran. Do all sex-links have issues with low egg production and/or health problems after a couple of years?

I started with 4 sexlinks. Two died from sudden chicken death. No illness or predators. The other two are still with me. One stopped laying last spring and the other layed up until her molt. They are power house layers so they wear out quickly. I have a retirement coop for them now. They served me well .
