Mille Cochin Info

I've gotten to the point of misting them with my hose mid day and they seem to tolerate it if not exactly LOVE it. Also letting them freerange to find their own cool spots in the yard when it is unbareable.

Hello everyone. I am super excited. I am going to get 6+ Mille Cochin eggs tomorrow. There is a lady about 1.5 hours from me that has some. I can't wait until they hatch. They are beautiful chickens.

My eggs are on day 14 and cranking along! Even the ones I thought were pourous are fine!

Here's my older boy. Not quite as Millie looking, but very handsome!

Actually, I think he's a lot more MF looking than you give him credit for! I love his red hackles and saddle - which so many MF Cochins are lacking. It's hard to tell from the pics - what coloring does he have on his chest? Does he have the tri-colored chevrons on his chest? If he does, I think you need to send him to me!!

Below is a link to Shagbark Bantams - they raise and show excellent Mille Fleur D'uccles, so you can see examples of what great Mille Fleur coloring should look like:

I cut my flock down small, most are broody and it is too hot, but when those three things change, i will be proud to spare you some eggs when it cools off and they start to lay again. Or I can start hatching some and send you some chicks. Right now i have a mottled roo (with gold leakage on hackles, saddle feathers and wings) over mille hens of varying quality, two partidgey ones, two wheaten based looking ones. Roo throws wheaten and partridge based chicks, as well as mottled with varying degrees of mismarking, all split to mille fleur. Mixed bag I know, but sometimes I get some very nice surprises from that pen.
So sorry for your loss.
