I just had 3 babies hatch a few days ago from my Lemon Blue LF Cochin project & more due tomorrow. They look like little chubby balls of fluff

I love love AJ.. he is such a good boy. Marie is a very sweet girl too. I have to say, when I first got into poultry, I was all about the silkies, but man, the cochin personality can't be beat. Yay for cochins! and broody silkies

My first eggs from my 6 mo. Mille Fleurs and Partridge Cochins - (separate pens) from 12 eggs; 5 Mille Fleurs and 3 Partridges!!!
The Milles are all yellow with just a little red/brown tinge. I'll get pics up this weekend.

A friend hatched my first eggs in her incubator but one of my 3 Milles went broody last week so I took the ceramic eggs out from under her and put 11 eggs under her.
I just put my 9 week old self-blues outside this Saturday and my garage was empty for the first time in a couple of months. Now the chicks are in the brooder there but actually I bought a nice little Buff cockerel for my one Buff pullet at an auction Saturday night so the garage was empty only a few hours.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday Was supposed to buy some birds from him this Fall but havent heard anything from him Nothing on here or anywhere Hope all is alright

Here are a few more photos of my kids growing up.
This is from my Bantyman roo over my Mottled/MF hens. I am loving the colors. Can't wait to see it at 8 months.

And I totally adore this from my main man, Schmoozle. I wasn't thrilled with the hen that this one is out of but they did okay together.

I have so many MFC kids growing up I usually just snatch up a few from the floor brooder to get shots of what looks interesting at the time. Some appeal more to me at times during their growth but I like to hang on to most of them so I can always have the best of what I am producing. So many people get frustrated with me because I won't sell them chicks but to have a really good breeding program you can't sell them until they are older. Some are not all that great until they are over 6 mths or even a year old so to sell them is to almost be as bad as not hatching very many at all. That is the way I see it anyhow.

*sigh* I need a bigger farm.

Question, I know these birds change a lot until the first year or so but was wondering about white. Will a chick that has way too much white end up losing it and become a desireably marked MFC? or pretty much end up being classified as a Calico?

Also, when crossing out to mottled are the blue mottled only usefull if you are working on porcelain? I think it's called that but correct me if I'm wrong, maybe blue milles?. Is there a purpose for them in a regular Mille Fleur project?
