So Rem got into a scuffle today with my LF Cochin roo Ralf when he snuck out of his pen without me knowing. It was quick but Rem injured his leg and I'm unsure of how bad. He does walk but has a limp. Now I want to knoe if I should move all my hens in with Max, split them up between Max and Roscoe, or just keep trying to hatch from Rem but right now I have high doubts he will be mounting any hens anytime soon. I have 2 dozen eggs to set from him now including frizzles. So any suggestions?

I am setting the eggs today. He has a limp but gets around okay. The others all can beat him up now when I let them out together. He was top bantam. I think it is just bruised as I don't feel any breaks. But it could always be a fracture I guess. That spot I took the pic is just a bunch of weeds that only come up there every year. It's right next to the chicken coops to it's quite easy to get pics their as the constantly in it.

the easiest way is to start with birds already this color.

but if you want to start from scratch and spend generations working on it, you use mottled and buff Columbian.

I started from scratch with mine and it has taken me 4 years to get as far as I have come. Gratifying but not for someone that hasn't any patience or isn't up to a challenge. And you need plenty of breeding pens, grow up pens and an ability to cull ruthlessly.
However, it is really nice for me to see what all my hard work has created so if you are up to the challenge, I say go for it.

This is why I love Nigus so much. He is always the first one who greets me at the door out of all my 9 chicks. He then call his 3 pullets in with him over once their feed is in the feeder. They will all come up to me but their is just something different about him.
