Those mottled black are beautiful. I had never seen them before. I would love to have a pair or trio of them. Where did you get them. Do you ever have eggs available for sell?

I've raised Millies here in AK, and the adults do just fine in the winter. I think the coldest the breeder coop got was 7°F. Mine like to roost on top of the gate, which is about 7' up there.

They can be flighty, but with constant handling they're tame like any other birds. They are very sweet, and you'd be silly not to have at least a pair.

LOL!

I live just a couple hours southeast of you, and I have a quad of Mille Fleur d'Uccles. Mine did just fine over the winter. I free range during the warmer weather, and on the coldest days I shut up the coops completely and didn't let them out. The warmest winter days they were outside and my roo's comb didn't suffer any frostbite.

I also had a heat lamp in their barn on the super cold nights.

Wow - thanks everyone! We are going to the fair Friday afternoon and with any luck, I'll find some. Appreciate your help and you all have some gorgeous birds!

I thank everyone on this thread also. I have 4 young birds and when I started reading this thread I became worried about the winter. now I can relax. I absolutely love the black!

Will do! If not, I took a week (never done that before!) of vacation Sept 15 through whatever that Monday is. There's a big poultry auction in Mt. Hope that Thursday that I'm going to, so if I don't find some at the fair, I'll be bidding on them!! And eating some good Amish food too!!

Glad you posted about yours making it through the winter ok so I know if I get some they'll be fine!
