Minnesota!

No problem, My hen should start laying some time in March. I plan on hatching out many of them.
I plan to let the flock come to a reasonable end first. I had gotten chicks from a local guy and some were sick. Of course, I did what I shouldn't and nursed the remaining back to "health". They have seemed to always have something. At this point, nothing comes in, nothing goes out. I'm glad that I painted the interior of the coop, it's easier to clean & will be easier to sanitize when the time comes.

We are on MN/WI border and suppossed to get freezing rain then 4-8 inches snow. WIth an hour and 15 min commute Mon morning sure hope it ends early!

Tripell: We have family over in Long Prairie!!!

Spent a couple hours today out in the coop-its been awhile....moved some nest boxes around, played with them, let them out into the other area of the barn, lots of treats-good times. (Sound like i need a life? LOL) My youngest EEr gave my the prettiest blue egg. 15 today-averaging 15-18 out of my 21 hens

Earlier, there were predictions for freezing rain here in western MN (at the bottom of the bump that goes into SD), but we missed that. It started snowing about an hour ago. Both ambulance services in our county are out on calls and they're saying the visibility is terrible. (I know this because I work for one of the services and have a radio so I'm eavesdropping). Chickens are all tucked in, we have plenty of feed, and food for ourselves. Stay safe, everyone!

Well we got dumped on by the snow. Snow drifts of at least 3 ft or more. We had a very excited evening, I went to do my chores around 7pm and I could smell something funny walking toward the barn. I opened the door and to my horror it was full of smoke. THE BARN WAS ON FIRE!!! I called 911 and ran to the house to get dad to help me try and get all the animals outside. To heck with that how about try and keep the fire under control until the FD arrived. 3 hours later the barn is saved, many chickens are sindged bad but still alive. Foam and water everywhere with two coops unusable until repairs can be made. could be till spring.:barnie Dad and I suffered with some smoke inhailation as did many of the birds. We shall see who makes it through the night and go from their.
