Minnesota!

lol I guess I phrased that strangely! I'd love to milk a goat. If only we could find a nice place to buy that allows goats and chickens =)

Are they meat rabbits or pets? I can't imagine eating rabbits, but I wonder what they taste like. I went to the humane society the other day and pet some and they are just too cuteeee.

Tonight after work I got the coop stained and will pick up the trim paint tomorrow. I love working on the coop this time of year. The evenings feel too short though. What are all of you doing in on these beautiful fall days? ~BTC

I'm loving the great Fall weather this week too! Still trying to dry out from last week's days of rain. I've been working on coops and runs so that my flock has a warmer place to stay this winter.
BTC - Great picture! She looks like she's loving the weather too.

That's going to be next for me too. I have some of that Foam board to put up between the studs of the coop and then I'll cover it with paneling so they wont peck and eat the insulation....weird pica thing those chickens have with insulation isn't it?!

Thanks for the compliment on Rose. She's our favorite...and the Rooster's too. She's always zipping away and trying to evade him. LOL. Poor little thing...

We have pet/show and meat rabbits. Rabbit doesn't have a whole lot of taste, but looks like chicken but more tender and finer textured. It is all about how you cook it that makes it taste good or bad. Our family enjoys it. My daughter who is 11 would tell kids at school about eating rabbit for dinner when we started last year, and they all got mad at her. We don't hold and play with our meaties. They are fed and treated well, then dispatched quickly and without causing pain and put in the freezer. I also use it as a supplemental raw part of our dogs' diets.

Does anyone know if Crystal, MN allows quails, turkey or nubian dwarf goats? We found a cool place in Dassel, MN that said it would be a good hobby farm (it even has a small barn), but apparently Dassel doesn't allow chickens =( Although....there are no neighbors around that property..hmm

That actually sounds delicious. Do you take them somewhere to get processed? Is that expensive?
