This little one has an injured leg. Found him, I think, out with 2 Icelandics. It looked like something was trying to push the gate. Somehow those 3 got out with only 1 getting injured. All my chickens are in the alpaca area & the chicks have another fenced place inside the alpaca pasture.

How is your little one doing today?

I have new chicks thanks to Minniechickmama! Thanks Theri!

Yesterday I brought home 6 Buckeyes that are six weeks old and 3, day old, BLRW for a broody who won't give up.

We got the Bucks settled into the chicken tractor and left the tiny chicks in a box in the garage waiting to be put under the broody after dark. Well, apparently, the chicks didn't smell like our flock so our black lab, who is really great with all our fowl, decided to snag one for a snack. I was so shocked and then angry! That darn dog will remain on my bad list for quite awhile!

Today broody and her 2 chicks were doing great, but I didn't have time to get any pics. She is definitely a good proud mama.

The buckeyes are a bit shy and nervous around us but they seemed to relax and enjoy their new home today. Here's a pic.

Sorry about the chick. Dang dogs. Well, the Bucks look might content, actually. They will settle in and before you know it will be your best buddies. Thanks for sharing a picture!

Two day's ago my dad forgot and left a gate open. His outside dog chased one of my layer and brought up to the house as chew toy. I was able to get my layer from him with some injuries. Amazingly she followed me all day and even got a ride from my lab. She has continued to give eggs for that I am grateful. I guess Willie don't like Poultry, he used to sleep and guard the bottle lambs when we had sheep. So far no losses from wild life.:fl

I'm glad you were able to save your hen!

Here's a pic of the new mama and her 2 adopted chicks. She had them out today for the first time.

Hi all! I'm in Iowa, but I'm 15 minutes south of the Minnesota border outside of a little town called Manly. I have 8 cross bred chicks that if someone is willing to come pick them up they are free :).
