Minnesota!

The DW and I are headed up the north shore on an 8 day camping trip all the way to grand portage and back. Any recommendations of good scenic roads (remember truck with a travel trailer accessible) or places we should stop to see or eat? We have been to jay Cooke and tettagouche and just love that area. We are going for 9 nights and visiting 7 state parks along the way.

File this under the strange request for the day...

My white rock, "the Hussy" has been sitting on a stolen nest for quite awhile. It appears all the eggs are rotten. He nest sticks so bad, I am going to need rubber gloves to handle her. Could be she has turned to Meth.

Anyways, she is one of my favorite birds and I hate to disappoint her, so I was wondering if anyone has Babies hatching in next few days or eggs close to hatching that I could buy to slip under her. I really do not care about species, as long as she thinks she is a mother. Maybe it would end some of her wild night life if she has kids and settles down.

Have her teeth fallen out and eyes sunk in? Has she gotten a tramp stamp too now?

OMG!! Really

Joel was my best friend in high school. We did everything together. Robin's family had a cabin on Cantlin lake when we were kids, the cabin was on the south end of the road. He was in our wedding.

I have known Rodney forever, When I was in college I drove school bus with his Dad. I have not seen either of them in years because I am a hermit and moved out of the area in early to mid 70s.
see small world.. robin is the nicest woman i have ever meet in my life her and Joel were the best neighbors i could ever have asked for. I just seen her at my husbands funeral and she looks exactly the same as when i 1st meet her.. i guess Joel is having some health problems he doesn't go running anymore but him and robin take walks.. I'm sorry to say Rodney died couple years ago. if you want to talk about any of this we can PM each other so we don't fill up this public space...

Some days I like to daydream about quitting my job and just making a simple living on my farm instead of sitting in a cubicle all day. I like my job, but still....

Alas, I'm too young and owe too much money to 'the man'...
It is wise of you to recognize that being a chicken wrangling crazy isn't going to pay the bills! I know, I've tried it. The best I can do is almost pay for the feed. I have been told I don't charge enough, so maybe that is part of the problem ;) Keep it a hobby and you will enjoy it much more. Even if the job s_cks, there is something to be said about paying the mortgage and keeping the heat on.

Okay, so the poultry "show" was last evening. There were about 20 kids who participated in the event. The stuffed toys were donated by a local vet and used for showmanship, primarily to see how a kid would take the bird out and put it back and a little about body parts. They then had conference judging with their projects that ranged from a trivia poster game, to videos about projects that couldn't come to the fair, to breed poster, to wood cut-outs of chickens, turkey, pigeons and eggs attached to descriptions of each. I wish there would have been better guidelines for them, but the kids overall did pretty well. I will post a picture of my DD's project. She did a great job telling the judge about the Buckeye breed. (I got to listen to all of them because I clerked). There were some very good projects though and proud that so many decided to participate.

Bad day here yesterday, in addition to great day with the baby...

Ernie has disappeared. I noticed him missing at chicken TV time. I am surprised by this. I did not expect to have something take a rooster. Ernie is/was a big rooster and not a whimp. He spent most of the day sparring with JJ and had decent set of spurs.

I thought he might just have missed chicken TV time and spent it in the woods eating raspberries. I walked around the whole place looking for feathers or a sign of a fight, nothing.

I am guessing I have a major predator back. I am going to have to move my schedule ahead on splitting the flock and confining them.

Dang, I needed him. I have a couple teen age BA's but they do not seem to have gotten his looks..... I may need a new rooster for next spring now.

Someone asked to see his picture yesterday. When I still thought he would be here today.
.
hopefully he shows up,,where is hussy? maybe they snuck off together,,,Lol

I'm back. Will you keep me forever?
I put in fairmindedness and open-ness in the post...and I read one that followed that tore down everything I said. I have a lot to learn and I let that percolate in my posts I hope. But why do people do that?
There are quite a few internet experts on here, and too d--m many that want to tear others down because they think they know more than everyone else and it makes them feel superior to rip others apart publicly. Funny thing is, I find those people to be the ones who need to keep their mouths shut and learn the most!

I come on this page and the Buckeye page. That is it, unless I post on the sale page.

I know what you mean! I guarantee that they would never say some of those things to your face.

So many people out there go right to the response "What I have read is...... and that is what I am going to do when I start raising chickens"
Or "I don't know but I think....."

Everyone just wants to get their own words in. I would hands down take advice from someone experienced over those kinds of people. That's why I ask it here and don't just go to google

and when you do Google, the first 25 hits bring you back to BYC anyway so you can read what those same people said! LOL
