Minnesota!

Also if you're hash tagging things. I love Instagram. It's quick and simple and the people that are on there are great. If you're only doing FB, I would also consider IG. This idea would be perfect for IG.

I have never used Instagram and don't even know what it is all about. Is it just sharing photos with odd filters on them? #NowIReallySoundOld hahaha

Happy Birthday Scandia! that gift is great! :D

Kloppers, those projects look great! :thumbsup

Feel better soon Minnie! :)

Drea, that is so terrible!  Hope you catch whatever it is soon! :(

Those are some huge turkeys Ralphie!  happy eating!

Coffee did you clip one wing? or 2?  Just curious, i've never clipped any wings yet... Mine don't really fly more than a foot or two off the ground.
I was only going to do 1 wing each but since it was so easy and they didn't seem to mind I just went ahead and did both..

So for selling eggs we have started a facebook group so that we can reach out to our customers now that the farmers market is over for the year. Someone on here recommended we try introducing our chickens to the customers to keep things interesting so... we made a hashtag! haha im sure some of you are saying 'a what?' or maybe 'you mean that pound sign thingy?' haha well none the less here is what we shared today: We have had lots of customers ask about our chickens and are curious about them. This has inspired us to come up with ‪#‎MeetAChickenMonday‬ Each monday we will introduce one our fine-feathered hens here on our Facebook page. That way you can get to know where your eggs come from! This week we would like to introduce Cheri! Cheri is a silver-laced Wyandotte hen that came to our farm this spring. Her favorite activities include scratching in the garden for snacks and lounging under the asparagus ferns for an afternoon nap. If you have dark brown speckled eggs in your carton, you can thank Cheri! I need to work on getting some better quality photos for next week, but so far it has gotten good response from our followers. What do you guys think?
This is such a cute idea! Can't wait to meet the rest! :)

First off, Lala you are right, they are all falling down on the job, I need posts to read with my coffee.

Kloppers that is a great idea. I have wanted to get the people that buy eggs to get more "involved" with the chickens and coould not figure out how. That does it.
Of course, with my chickens it would be just telling how lazy they are and seldom they lay eggs. I have lost most my egg customers because of the molt.

Also Creamettes are really only good for people allergic to eggs, as they would not have to touch too many in a year.

I am getting over the sadness of having to send a turkey to camp yesterday, but dreading that another is going tomorrow. The good thing is the axe is sharp and Blanchranch has to swing it.

Coffee, I think you made an error in clipping both wings. The idea as I understand it is to clip just one wing so the bird is aerodynamically unstable. By clipping both they might be able to control the lift and fly. With one wing clipped they have asymetrical lift and will not go up. much. Having experienced asymetrical lift once in a Cessna, I know it is a bear to fly with. I had grass wrapped around a wheel and strut that made flying hard.

I had landed in a guys private airflield and it was wet, I did not know that when I landed. BUT I needed coffee. When I took off I used all the runway plus, and ended up with long tall grass wrapped around the one side. (That is asymetrical drag but same thing as lift always equals drag). There your flight ground school lesson for today.

Oh and one other thing, I might need one of those Silver laced wyanette things. I would name her Tammy.

I am in for a long hard day.

I am having another "Grandpa's Adventures in Daycare" day.

My Grand daughter (4) gets up around 7, my Grandson (20 months) gets up around 9.

This morning as I am reading the ONE and ONLY new post of the day and drinking my coffee around 6;30.
I hear my granddaughter coming down stairs. However, something is off, she is talking to someone. I know her mother is not out of bed yet.

Then I hear it, Calvin is talking to her. She is saying "come on Calvin" Come on down see Grandpa" and the like. I am shocked to see him awake so early.

I asked my DGD. " What is Calvin doing up so early"

She says " I got him up" "I pulled a box over to his crib and helped him get out of it".

I said " Why/"

SHe said " Because he wasn't tired anymore"

I said " wasn't he sleeping?"

She said " just a little bit, but he was almost awake"...

I think this could be a long two days...

Sorry to leave you guys hanging with no posts. I didn't have time last night to pen up old biddy but was surprised to see her get off the nest when I filled the feeder to eat. She obviously isn't too commited to brooding.

I am kind of hoping she will be broody in the spring. Something about having chicks hatched 'naturally' on the farm is something I would like to experience. Plus it is essentially free chicks :) the best chicken math is FREE chicken math hahaha

The other chickens might drag it in. Mine will move a dead bird some as they eat it. Friendship rules do not apply once you die in the chicken world.

He was in a coop by his self. His run shared a fence line with the girls, so he could still see and socialize with them, but not have his way them.

Think one of the predators I am dealing with is an owl. Went out again after work and there was some bird poo on the rocks outside the run. I searched the trees, the coops and runs again. Found some feathers on the top of the run frame this time that were not there before, it is 10 ft up.

Not thinking the owl is what got him. Were just feeding him/her now. Told hubby to forget trying to identify the predator, and just prepare for all.

Got the weasel traps, just need to make the box now.

Ralphie: How goes it with Grampie DayCare? Bless you for doing that. I think you'll always have good memories of it though and them having memories with you, too. Fun times. I should find you the recipe for home-made play-doh.

I'm so out of shape that after my 2 mile walk yesterday I feel like I've been run over by a truck. But...it needs to happen.
