I have a small hobby farm in Tamarack, MN. We currently raise meat and egg chickens, turkeys and indian runner ducks. Looking at getting into Midget White Turkeys. Anyone know any breeders out there?

Well, aren't you just a ball of sunshine on a snowy day? LMBO! Seeing the silver lining on the gray clouds while the county blows away in a gust. LOL I hate this wind, but I am glad you see a positive with it today. The only think I like about a windy day is if it is when I need the ground to dry out or the grass so I can work in the yard and garden.

Well, snow is definitely better than rain! The whole duck pen was a muddy mess, so I was glad the mud had two choices, freeze into dirt, or dry up in the wind.

This is a video we took last week of a Buff Orpington and Fawn and white indian runner duck flying in slomo. They can both fly much farther than this, but in the video they fly about 250 feet. They are both drakes.

If you think chickens grow up fast, wait and see how you feel if you and the DW decide to have children! I can remember the day my first was born as vividly as if it were yesterday, and I can recount about every minute of that day (OUCH!), and now he lives on his own in Rochester and works and goes to school and I barely see him. But I went to the choir and band concert tonight at the college and had dinner with him and his girlfriend and it was wonderful. At the same time I keep thinking, "How can he be a young man already?"

I still cant believe mine is 24 and married... If i close my eyes i can still remember how his skin smelled in my arms when he was a baby, i loved holding him and dancing with him in my arms and singing to him... i loved waking him up to kisses every morning.. I knew it was changing when one day he decided he didn't want to sleep in bed with us anymore,, He was 10 and suddenly wanted to sleep in his own room. I miss my baby....

well, I made it home with the 6 chickens. traffic was a nightmare, but the drive was worth it! The silkie seems big to me, she is white with blue ears. First silkie for me, and I was a little dismayed by her feathery feet, which of course, given the weather, were muddy! The bantam barred rock is much smaller than the silkie, and has very muddy bars.

All are healthy, looking good. I left them in the cardboard boxes with hay in the car tonight. Decided I will release them in the coop tomorrow morning after the flock is outside, and give them time to get used to the coop and more importantly, to get fed and watered. Probably will let them out in the afternoon, but will play it by ear. I am very disapointed that there is about a half inch of snow on the ground - so not only will there be new chickens, and new spaces to get used to, but snow!
