I bathed our hen tonight to get all to poo off her tummy. hope that will help me determine if the funk is poop or infection/disease. it was a good opporunity to feel her all over and she felt ok, nothing felt out of place. I used a blowdryer on her to get her mostly dry before bringing her back to her pen. she is walking a little better but still very wobbly. She keeps stepping on her own toes! i think tomorow she will spend the day in the coop with her flock and hopefully she does well. She is still eating pretty well. even ate some chicken crumbles tonight.

She sounds good. Did she like her bath? I hear some chickens really like it after a bit.

I really like everyone on both threads. I don't understand this whole thing. We all love chickens. The rest is just a bunch of opinions. Actually, we are all really great people with opinions that don't matter anywhere near as much as the people. I will scream this from my soap box. I miss the days when we were in the top 10. I miss the way it was. I want one of the threads to disappear and have us all back on one thread again. We are adults and this is silly.

Hey Everyone,

So, I just ordered chicks for February. I have been reading on here how some people are brooding their chicks right in the coop. Granted I have not seen many from MN doing this. What do you all think? My coop is not insulated and I do not have any heat. I was planning to get a sweeter heater to brood the chicks. Do you think if I put the heater in the coop and make a brooding area the chicks would do alright in our Minnesota winters? Any advice is welcome. This will be my first go at day old chicks.
