We were AI tested twice last year by county vets. Both times they parked out on the lane and put on a full body Mylar suit with gloves and boot covers. Everything covered but the face. Then after I helped take samples they went back to the truck and sprayed down with something, sanitizer of some Kind. They de-suited and left the suit wrapped in a sealed bag for me to burn with trash. It was enough to make me feel good about them coming and going and not leaving anything bad

Scandia. Ralphie was talking about three of his Toms picking on a rooster once. It doesn't sound like something that happens often. Seems most people with turkeys have chickens.

As far as I know most infectious diseases don't live outside of their environment for long. Definitely not long enough to transfer them to another place. I know they have no idea how it is being transferred with AI. They are just are not taking any chances.
Are we sure mareks can be transferred this way? Maybe in the poop? I would love to know more. I wouldn't want to put people trough more than I need to. It is like many things. The scare causes more damage than the event.

hard to tell with viruses - how they are transmitted. I don't know for certain whether you can bring a virus with you but I think so, because mareks virus lives for years. It is in the dander shed with the feathers. It isn't killed by cold. There is a disinfectant, virkon, that supposedly kills it.

I don't have enough of a medical background to know, thats for sure!
