I think they're 3 1/2 weeks...they don't have all their feathers yet...any guesses if they could possibly be hens yet???

) I don't have any more information. The seller didn't get any more chicks for me to compare with.

One chick is definitely younger than the rest. Most of them are getting a little pink in their comb...or is this pink considered red and definitely a roo???

Barred coloring and pink legs... I'd say cuckoo marans. They would be English standard though due to not having feathered legs. Barred Rocks generally have yellow legs. My cuckoo marans chicks all had the white spot on their head too. The girls are generally appear to be black with white barring and the roos generally appear to be more white with black barring. Not sure, but it's a possibility.

I agree. My Cuckoo Marans looked just like this, pink with a little black in the legs. All mine had combs at this age which turned pink but not red. They are 12wks now, they did have some bright barring for a few weeks but now their barring gives them a grey look, they have turned dull colored compared to my other breeds. Mine have kept the small combs, they are turning red now but almost no woddles. I have one that shot up in size but still looks like a hen. There can be a runt in the group. I had one chick from the 12wk group that took for ever to feather out all the way & still it looks smaller more compact type bird but when it finally did feather out it was like over night. Was a SLW so different breed. My Cuckoo Marans around the 6wk age shot up in size, they are the biggest birds I have out all of them.

My Cuckoo Marans legs stayed a pinkish color. Yours look like they are much more yellow legs now, they are looking more Barred Rock. The one towards the back with the more red face look Rooish to me. My pullets didn't develop woddles till later more like 7 - 9wks & their combs haven't done any growing till this week which is about 14wks. The combs basicly were a straight line from beak to head & just this last wk a couple have been raising up a little. I do agree with the last post on 3 of them I would keep an eye on as they look a little more rooish with the more raised up comb & the 2 in the back have a little more red in the face.

It's amazing how lighting of a picture can change opinions of the color of the birds & their legs. If you look at the original batch of chicks in the op, you'll notice one bird, I named crazy head, had a huge light blotchy head...I exchanged him because I thought for sure he'd be a roo. Then, I came back with pictures of roos w/white heads and was told the hen is rir...so thinking they are "gourmet black" chicks aka rir hen x br roo...then everyone says oh, they look like my cuckoo marans...but check out pictures of the cross down the middle of this thread...my chicks would all be hens according to this rir hen x br roo cross https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3674089

now
everyone says they look like br, which means they're all roos again..lol

@ken, it continues to be a guessing game, even with your chicks because you still aren't 100% sure of what you have.

But this is all fun to say the least. Thank you for your opinions!

Hi there mispollitos finally got over here to your thread you PMed me about sorry for still not posting pics as of yet as Ive still been to busy to get some uploaded here but I shall sooner than later I hope. Anyway the pics that I see here the chicks look more like all BLS black sex-link males to me, hate too say but they are very easy to pass off as Barred Rocks when young chicks as their coloring is much the same till they start feathering out. Just to note Marans would show pinkish-white legs yours are yellow with slate(grayish) to blackish overlay, typical on BRs and BSL's

I'll try to get the pics of my BRxRIR pullets from this past spring hatch on here soon, I don't know if I have chick pics of them I'll look and see but I will post some of them at present age and all are now laying I might add and have bright red combs, so pretty.

see ya soon

Approximately 9 weeks old. Our Mexican friend was over on Monday and assured me that we had all hens! He said the breed is called Chana.

Lo siento pero pienso que todos de esos son gallos. With combs that big on 9 wk old birds, you got yourself a bunch of crossed Het. Barred roos there.
