Ok, now that rooster is poster material- just amazing. What did you breed him to- an Ameracuana? (spelling, I know!) I see blacks, blues, and some gorgeous mixes. What a great flock!

Thank you :) He is a goofy boy.. never met a roo that talks so much. If something weird is going on he is the first to let me know..even if its a bird flying in the air. I just bred him to two of my favorite easter eggers. there pics are below. I have my second hatch growing in in my brooder inside the house and have some regular easter egger eggs that i purchased for texas in my incubator, there flocks consist of a lot of lavender and black easter eggers so its going to be interesting to see how they turn out when they get older..

This guy is a cross between my Blue Jersey Giant rooster and one of my Rhode Island Red hens. Not a very good picture, but he is unique looking.

I had to post a photo of a chick I got from a mixed bantam...just because I find it ironic that I got a chick that looks exactly like the hen. You'd think the birds would just keep looking more and more mixed right?! The only difference is that the chick has feathers on it's legs because the rooster was a D'Uccle crossed with Silver Phoenix (you should see the tails on that one

---LOL how inappropriate is that taken out of context!!!!!).

So I picked up 2 blue jersey giant/Ameracuana crosses. Beautiful blue, heavy birds....but....stupid? They don't socialize with the rest of the flock, always have to be put in the coop at night, don't get out of the rain, act like they are being killed if I have to catch them, are the loudest, chirpy birds of my flock, and generally don't seem to fit in well.

Is this typical of mixed breeds?
