Mixed breeds

Pics
I see a lot of beautiful birds on here. I have no plans to get too carried away with breeding, but I have enough hens that I would let one go broody if she gets the urge. I have one lovely BOrp that has the broody tendencies. I have three roos in my flock, one Austrolorp, one Hamburg and one Light Brahma. If I let my BO go broody I think it is most likely that the Brahma would be the father.

Has anyone bred Buff Orpintons and Brahmas?
Is there a chance of getting Buff Brahmas or does it all just depend?

Too many pages to read! I recently acquired a blue australorp/mottled houdan roo, an ameraucana/chantecler pullet and a BA hen. I wanted to breed the BA hen I got out of the chicks I bought earlier this summer but don't want her to breed her brothers. I also didn't want to stray too far from australorp so I got the blue x roo. I also bought the other 2 pullets sight unseen at the same time from the same lady. The BA from her will go with one of my BA boys. ANYWAY.... getting back on topic.... I was surprised at the houdan bit, didn't see it in the photo (I had thought aracauna/ameracauna) so he was an interesting surprise when I first saw him! I'm going to put him with Hedwig and make bearded babies :D i also want to put him with my BA hen and get funky australorps, ha ha!

I have three mixed breeds in my flock. One is Peepers, a tiny, sweet, adorable little Cochin hen who had a grandparent or great grandparent that was a Mille fleur. She looks like a Cochin Banty but a little smaller and with longer tail and foot feathers. She went broody this spring and hatched me three babies. One was a blue Sumatra hen crossed with either a silkie or a Cochin, I can't tell. Another was a little bantam rooster who is probably a little bit of every breed, but predominantly silkie and Cochin. The third happened to be a pure Maran rooster who was so beautiful, but I had to give him away because he was too big for my bantam hens and I didn't want him to squish them when breeding.
Here's a pic of the little family in early summer.

This is my boy, aptly named Muttly :) He was sold to me as a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, which he obviously isn't, although he looked like one as a chick. He's really impressed me though with how fast he matured, and I'm probably going to start a breeding program based on him. I don't know what the egg production would be like (obviously LOL) but if his daughters are good layers and his sons grow as fast as their father I would be a very happy camper. He was born early May of this year, I haven't gotten a weight on him but he's a big boy.
Muttly (in the back) and a BLRW chick with the same hatch date, about 6 weeks old.

Muttly, 5.5 months old

He is gorgeous!

My favorite pullets from this year. My roosters have been barred or part-barred (black sex links) over a variety of hatchery hens. The blue bird is actually barred, you just can't see it well. I plan to use all these ladies to make some EE sexlinks next year.

Those are ALL gorgeous, too! Purebreds are overrated. Mutts are the spice of life!

This is a warren x welsummer cockerel

and a different one
