can i brood mallard babies and wood duck babies in the same brooder at the same time providing they are the same size? When it's time to cut them loose, should I cut them loose at different times or release them at the same time. I already know the woodies will fly off, but I'm concerned that the mallards will follow them and not come home. Any suggestions/advice?

you can to a degree, realise that the mallard will out grow the wood ducks in a matter of a week or two, at this point you need to seperate them, they can get very bulliesh at the food bowl and likely hurt your woddies. Also like you said, you best"RELEASE" those wood ducks into a pen or you'll never see them again. Mallard most likely wont follow them if domestic strains.
