MJ's little flock

That’s why I love having you chicken friends on here.
When we got Penny and Bok I had no experience or anyone to teach me things. We were winging it and fortunately had luck on our side. I wonder if I knew more then I could have saved Penny from whatever illness claimed her, maybe not.
Now I know so much more and have changed a lot about how I do things based on what you guys have posted. Another reason why it was very beneficial to read @BY Bob’s thread from the beginning and now I’m onto yours 🙂
I feel like a much better chicken mumma now and that’s thanks to the crew on these threads 🥰
You do not understand how nice it is to hear that. There have been times when it has been very painful to share what has happened. It is not easy to talk about how you have failed your ladies. But if it can keep someone else from suffering the same loss you do it. I'm so glad that my failures have helped you. :hugs

For MJ, to help you feel cool. I thought it was interesting how the water flowed down the stem and then froze in place rather than creating a dripping icicle. If I took ice in my scotch I could break a piece off it is so clear!

You are a sensational and loving chicken dad.
I know now that sometimes we are helpless to assist them without an avian vet and with illness they usually don’t show it until it’s too late.
From all I’ve read you are very observant and proactive about your tribe. I mean look at Sansa atm, you know what’s normal and what’s not with her and are onto it because you know each of them so well.
Like most things in life, we have to learn the hard way and try not to make the same mistakes again.
Your ladies are very lucky to have you, as are we ☺️
I hope the sentiment of what I’m saying is coming through correctly, that we have all made mistakes but I feel when you say ‘my failures’ that it is too strong a word for you to use when talking about your past hens, that you are being too hard on yourself. 🥺
I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense, I know it’s not incredibly articulate 😅 I’m running on little sleep due to a sick kid at home 😕

We are looking at a lovely 24C today so it’ll end up around 28C because they never get it right 🙄

Here the forecast is 37, so I expect it'll go to around 40. It'll be cooler tomorrow, more warm than hot.

Eta Yeh, it's 32 and it's not even 10am yet, so 40 looks likely around 4pm.

The lady tradies have been and gone already. They put more wire up around the walls and they're coming back early tomorrow morning to start putting wire over the top.
