More rain, so the gang are taking shelter at the backstep again

I nipped out and took a photo of my melaleuca.

As you can see, the bark is different to the one I pulled off the web. It looks a bit more "papery" but is actually quite hard and tough.

The flowers are not at their best but I think they are the same.

Now I'm wondering if I identified it properly.

To add to the confusion I did some research & the 2 species are so closely related some Bottlebrush are now melaleucas & vicky~verka. I am no wiser.

They likely did. Some of mine will stay out in the rain, Aurora, Phyllis, and Sydney don't care about rain. Lilly just goes to bed early.
