I'm delighted to say noone tried to come into the house last night!

However, I was awake between 1 and 4 worrying about it.

Also, I have chicken news to share: Mary has decided to brood again. If I put eggs under her now, they'll hatch while I'm on summer holiday (assuming it goes according to plan, which it might not).

I'm still not thrilled by the fox proofing, but I can move forward on that while the eggs are incubating. I'm worried it won't be completed before hatching, should I wait for another opportunity? I'm in two minds.

Today I remembered I signed a contract to write a chapter and it's due in January, which shelves the egg hatching idea for the time being. I sincerely doubt I could produce a satisfactory chapter while thrilled by chicks.

Feels like I haven't seen Janet in weeks. It's nice to see her again.

Wow. That jacaranda really has come along nicely. It is a perfect place for a little sit down for Janet. Lovely.

It's taller than the run now and starting to reach out sideways over the top. It seems to like the sandy soil and I tip the chooks water on it daily.
