My house just had an attempted break in. I heard the back door creak and yelled out GO AWAY (but in coarser terms if you get my drift). Then I sneaked into the kitchen which was very dark and peered out the window. Saw him crouching down and creeping away so I yelled out I CAN SEE YOU, F. O. Then I checked the time (5.14am) and called the police who showed up within 20 minutes and looked all around and had a chat. They're going to see if the next door neighbour's door camera got any images.

I need to improve home security.

I think some cameras are a good idea. The cameras I use for my coop are quite good and include a siren.

The are called Arlo and are wireless and battery powered so easy to install.

I also need to get motion sensing lights and side gates.

On the other hand, I'm glad my existing precautions held up well (squeaky screen doors, locked and bolted heavy doors, locked inner doors between likely windows and the rest of the house, nothing of value in the back porch).

The Arlo cameras also have spot lights. You can flip on a spotlight and sound an alarm.

I cannot recommend them enough. I've had them for years. @RoyalChick uses them as well.

Yikes. I'm having a few minutes hesitation in the car with the engine running because I don't want to leave the house unattended.

I might nip inside to check I've locked everything because I can't recall doing it.

Then I'll go to work.

I love them. Not the cheapest by any means but they have worked brilliantly for me.
