MJ's little flock

I've been thinking about this. I think a lot of this is subjective, @BY Bob , depending on our experiences with individual chickens of a particular breed. My Wyandotte is lovely & I adored both my Campines. I would have both these breeds again because my experience with them has been positive. You got the greatest hen ever in Daisy so Leghorns are your chicken of choice. :) There are chickenss I haven't had such positive experiences with so I am leery of ever owning their breed again.

This is an astute observation. Our direct experience is the initial basis for our advice. How could it be otherwise? We also absorb info from others. I always try to be clear whether what I am saying is something I have heard or my direct experience. The context of the data is as important, if not more important, than the info itself.

I have yet to directly interact with a chicken for an extended period of time that I did not come to appreciate, outside of Jabberwocky. He did not stop me from getting more EEs.

There are many reasons to choose the members of your flock, egg color, chicken color, size, etc. We will always develop our own favorites. I love all the variety of chickens available in this group. I love learning about other breeds, campines for example. It is quite possible that one day they will be in my flock just because of your stories.

I look forward to @MaryJanet adding to the variety today! :wee

How lovely! Your pictures of the place had that grandparent "feel" to it. And i mean that in a totally loved and comforting way :)

Same with Araucanas. Alice looks nothing like the American Araucana. She has a tail and no ear tufts

Oh, and good luck with your chook adoption today. I hope the "right" hens choose you.
The grandparent aesthetic is strong with this one (as in, me). And the scifi aesthetic too.

I collect tea cups n saucers. There. I said it.

I hope two of those youngsters think I'm a likely chickeneer :)

Otherwise, from their perspective it's going to be so very random.

Me too. :) One can only own so many chickens. One experiences the rest vicariously through one's friends. I am glad MJ looks like choosing chickens I have no experience with. So much more interesting!
