MJ's little flock

This is really something. I thought this group might find this development interesting.

I haven't yet fully assembled my thoughts on this development.

I'm glad for humanity. One fewer cruelties is always good.

Not much point in being glad for all the male chicks who won't even be conceived. And as for the (I'm guessing) billions of male chicks already killed, it's something that should never have happened.

I assume the technology is someone's IP and that they'll be protecting their property. Deals will be made. Egg prices will rise. Most humans live in developing nations, where cost might be prohibitive, in which case maybe male chicks will continue to be killed for a long time yet?

On the other hand, it's a fascinating and ground breaking research outcome. Yay!!

So I'm probably going to land on "Yay science!! :ya" and "*groan* the industrial capitalism :tongue" and "it's neither good nor bad for the male chicks ⚖️" but "it's good for humanity 😇"

Maybe the IP owners will gift their technology to developing nations? That would be marvellous.

Hmmm I feel like there's something not quite right with this picture 🤔

The Chief Red Marauder strikes again!

On the other hand the Apprentice Red Marauder is doing much better, but she'll stay on the sick list until I feel confident she's ok.

Lorna continues to struggle but she's eating a little and drinking too. She has a follow up appointment late tomorrow afternoon.

This morning, Katie had the longest and most vigorous dust bath she's ever had. She left a magnificent crater in the flower bed. Edie is thriving.

And my dear old chums seem to be doing quite well. Janet is sneezy as she always is, but everyone else is ok.

So the river chickens have become the red marauders 😊.
I hope Lorna gets better. Are all her poops like the one you posted or does she pass more usual ones too ? Could it just be the antibiotics have screwed up her digestive system ?

All her poops are like that. But she's still eating, so where's the solid matter going?

I don't doubt the antibiotics did her some good, but she's still very sick so clearly bacteria wasn't her main problem.

Dr Mark will have some ideas this afternoon.

in a way, I feel for the Red Marauders. They're happy, so they come running, which the hens interpret as an ATTAAAACK!!!
