I haven't yet fully assembled my thoughts on this development.This is really something. I thought this group might find this development interesting.

I'm glad for humanity. One fewer cruelties is always good.
Not much point in being glad for all the male chicks who won't even be conceived. And as for the (I'm guessing) billions of male chicks already killed, it's something that should never have happened.
I assume the technology is someone's IP and that they'll be protecting their property. Deals will be made. Egg prices will rise. Most humans live in developing nations, where cost might be prohibitive, in which case maybe male chicks will continue to be killed for a long time yet?
On the other hand, it's a fascinating and ground breaking research outcome. Yay!!
So I'm probably going to land on "Yay science!!




Maybe the IP owners will gift their technology to developing nations? That would be marvellous.
