MJ's little flock

Christa laid an egg today.

Here it is with Katie's egg and Edie's, which was laid first and is rather dirty from Katie's muddy feathers.

I was hoping her days of laying eggs were over.

Her partner in crime spent 2 hours on the nest dreaming of eggs yesterday, so I'm thinking she might be laying internally.
That post was from Tuesday and in it, I've commented on Christa being on the nest on Monday.

I've been at the office since then, so I don't have any info on whether she sat on the nest Tuesday or Wednesday. I presume so.

The color is definitely fading. Perhaps she is entering the "Lilly phase" and will only lay a rare egg.

I have never seen anything like that before. It does not look like lash material. There is something that people get in eggs called 'meat spots' - it is not a cause for concern and look a bit like those, but I don't really understand what causes it.
But every picture I have seen shows a regular egg yolk and white with a meat spot floating in it. If those were meat spots then you are missing a yolk.
Can you send the pictures to Dr.Mark for an opinion?

I am completely confused but very happy!
I gave some of the windfalls to the Princesses. For efficiency sake I just lobbed them over the electric fence where they land with a thud and tend to split open which I thought would be easier for the chickens to eat.
The thud of them landing startled everyone. But of course guess-who recovered first and came to investigate if they were edible?
Yup. Little Piglet came trotting out from the bushes where they all hid and started chowing down on nectarine.
Aww, Princess Pigletine! :love
