She's adorable! Her tufty hairdo gets me every time. Not to mention her gastronomic enthusiasms. She checked out nest boxes yesterday. I am not ready for her to be grown up. She is still very small and full of childish adventure.

I'd prefer if there were no more "eggs" from her, ever. The color is definitely fading. Perhaps she is entering the "Lilly phase" and will only lay a rare egg.
It's very odd. I think the safest thing to say is that it confirms her status as a hen whose reproductive system is failing in an unhealthy way.I don't know. I've never seen this.
Actually, that's the reason I took the photos and I shared them on the thread as an afterthought. If I learn anything conclusive from the vets, I'll follow up with an update so everyone can benefit.I have never seen anything like that before. It does not look like lash material. There is something that people get in eggs called 'meat spots' - it is not a cause for concern and look a bit like those, but I don't really understand what causes it.
But every picture I have seen shows a regular egg yolk and white with a meat spot floating in it. If those were meat spots then you are missing a yolk.
Can you send the pictures to Dr.Mark for an opinion?
That is very cool.Another cute Aussie wildlife news story has appeared on the ABC.
