MJ's little flock

It's why she died so young. Salpingitis. Such a lovely life snuffed out by over laying.

All my leghorns had tragic lives. One killed by a hawk, 2 from reproductive issues, and one from a sad accident.

However, if you want eggs, they are the standard. IMHO.
None of the hens here reach anything like that.

They are not bred for factory laying like these poor leghorns are. Such marvelous birds forced by breeding to pump out eggs. I hope that the leghorn mix that @CrazyChookChookLady is hatching for me has that super high egg production knocked out while preserving the fun personality.

Jamet lays one egg every two days. I like that pace. Besides the health advantages, it
t frees up her time for doing other chickeny things.

I agree. It seems like Lilly wastes hours when she lays her occasional egg. It's funny but Daisy, the greatest hen ever, took minutes to lay her egg. She wasted no time in laying.

I can relate, when I'm on the job I like to race through my tasks 😀 and go home early so I can be with the chickens

Another group shot, nicer than the first I think.
