MJ's little flock

I just checked the forecast for Alfred, it seems to be going very slowly. It that normal progression for your tropical systems?

I hope the damage is not to bad.

Nothing about this cyclone has been normal. It's been lingering off the coast for over a week unable to decide where its heading. It's been a 2, a 3, temporarily a 4 back to a 3 & now a 2 again with a chance it will strengthen again before it crosses. As a slow moving system they're looking @ a metre of rain in some places & people are less worried about the cyclone than the amount of rain, flooding, tidal surge etc that it will bring in its wake. My boys are ashore & mum says she's safe @ present but lots already without power. & it's still lingering offshore. 🙄

How are the flooding and power for your family? Uncle Gary lost his power and a tree narrowly missed my cousin's house, but they're unharmed.

Are there many roosters without spurs? It seems odd that my gentlest hen has huge spurs and a strapping cockerel doesn't have any.

The Vulture has had a reprieve because I realised I don't have a safe travel box for him. The usual boxes and baskets are too small for him. Also I like him and don't want him to die.

Mary is on a course of antibiotics, so we've been taking daily drives to the surgery for her injections. She seems to be improving a little but catching her during the daylight for her late afternoon injections stresses her out and impairs her respiration.

On her last day, I'm going to borrow their big dog crate for The Vulture.

Meanwhile, I have a house guest and luckily she doesn't mind if I ignore her for a few hours while taking Mary for her injections.

Wow! Not sure. I just asked them all to text me an OK so I knew everyone was alive & because without power the phones will be useless pretty fast. Other than that it's wait & see but I think they've all come out pretty well.

That's wild. I'm glad everyone is ok. I hope the flooding is not too bad.
