If she was indeed 12 weeks on the day I brought her home, she's 28 weeks now. I think she's been her full grown adult size for about a month. This week she started squatting when startled. She's been nibbling at shell grit for six weeks and she knows where the nests are. It's up to her now.

If she's squatting it has to be soon.

It sounds like it will be soon now, MJ. I wouldn't worry. It'll happen when she's ready & what a lovely surprise it will be!

I don't think it is. They just seem to have more fight in them. The hens are just as bad.
In general the bantams are noticeably more feral.

Sounds good!

Things are slightly slower, one big project is almost out the door. Another one is winding up. Several small projects are simmering away and I must pay attention to them soon. I've also booked a week of leave late May, can't wait!

Your week of leave will be well deserved not much longer to wait !!

It is and as you can see, there is considerably less soil in it now. A fair proportion of that has been shaken out in my kitchen!

Why do they walk around with dirt all over them? You see it all the time. Hattie shook out on my deck the other day. What a mess!

This is Lock. She's the hen that doesn't lay eggs and crows now and then. She's also the hen that has leg problems I'm struggling with. The picture should be clear enough when full size (click on image) to see what I'm on about. One leg in particular seems to have a strange growth.
Her legs don't seem to bother her now that the scaly leg mite is getting treated but they just don't look right.
