Haha it's a long argument regarding the control of technology vs technology's control of us - hmmm have you noticed how facebookish byc is now? That suggests to me that facebook is getting our byc data and that happens somewhat silently. I have been fastidiously disengaged from facebook since they ran psychological experiments on people without their informed consent.

Not sure what this means for my ongoing participation on byc. I may have to say farewell, but first I'll check the privacy policy.

Back to the book, I'm not sure what the point of Susskind's argument is because I've only read two chapters, lots to go!

I've since had a brief exchange wifh Nifty Chicken regarding the ads and premium membership and I came quickly to understand the byc providers are ethical in their practicrs. However, escaping ads is one thing, but I'm still unclear on how much of my data is being harvested by facebonkers, if any. I need to go over the privacy policy.

No I hadn't. I wanted to though because it would have given her a duty to me and it would've given me some recourse. As things stand, all we have is our word, which is something it appears she won't keep to. I'll try again from a number she can't recognise and see if she answers. I wish she hadn't made the promise in the first place. If she had stuck to her decision to sell only day old chicks, I'd have taken them and raised them somehow.

Could she be away on holidays? ( I know. I'm probably being naive, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I 'd like you to get your new ladies!)

I was thinking that too. I'll keep trying for a few more weeks but at some point I'll have to concede and look for pullets elsewhere.
